A novel fixed-bed photoreactor has been designed to enable photocatalytic treatment in flowing hospital wastewater using cost-effective smooth borosilicate supports covalently functionalised with a reliable nanomaterial coating. #OHBP2023

First bench-scale experiments with a UV-light effective powdered metallic nanomaterial zinc oxide (ZnO) vs UV-light inactive copper oxide (CuO) have demonstrated success to eliminate two hospital test drugs paracetamol and amoxicillin in artificial hospital wastewater. #OHBP2023

After learning about #peatlands at #FlowCountry, next stop was #LochFleet and the large complex estuary of the River Fleet learning a wee bit about seals, pine martens, ospreys, salmon, etc. Then ending the day with a great sharing of insights from the whole trip. #HydroNation

Day 3 of the @HydroScholars field trip started with a fascinating visit to @TheGlenmorangie distillery to learn about the Dornoch Environmental Enhancement project before a visit to Evanton to learn about small scale hydropower generation @JamesHuttonInst @HNICScotland

Day 4 of the @HydroScholars fieldtrip kicked off learning about the past, present, & future challenges & solutions of the @CaledonianCanal — the longest amongst the 5 @ScottishCanals. We also visited the #Elgin Flood Alleviation Scheme that protects communities in #Moray.

Today we were delighted to welcome Hydro Nation Scholars to our Inverurie Waste Water Treatment Works! The scholars enjoyed an afternoon tour in the sun and were very impressed with the site and its innovative technology @HydroScholars @CREW_waters @JamesHuttonInst
