I do bang on about fibromyalgia a lot. After >20 years I feel i’m a veteran with experience and want to explain it to the outside world, largely to warn against complacency with regard to postviral consequences, esp Long Covid.

@COVID19_disease Whether it is or isn’t airborne, another mutation will arise that is. We should be spending this time since covid arose retrofitting our lives with good air filtration and ventilation by design, And educating ourselves against misinformation re disease, mitigation and treatment.

@outbreakupdates By quarantining, Not taking risks therefore that this in fact more likely to human to human transmit that being stated currently. Meanwhile in USA, quarantining not required. 40% fatality rate with no treatment and no vaccine. Rolling the dice.

@MaplePonds There were zero insults. Fake deference and pseudo/fake defensiveness. Enough yet?

But also a specialty which is happy to allow non-doctors (physician assistants, ANPs, ACPs) replace actual psychiatrist doctors

@MaplePonds Communication isn't your thing? 🙏 'My bad' 'I'll crawl back under my rock' If you intend a retraction, simple English is far easier.. 'Sorry. I jumped in, likely misjudged that in a thread of doctors about medicine..' Now, maybe I misinterpreted your abject deference. Enough?

@MaplePonds @Oxfordite @ClearThinker66 There is But the point we're making is that this statement is at odds with her previous actions as president @rcpsych when she led on the replacement of psychiatrist doctors with non-doctors...

@MaplePonds @ClearThinker66 @Molly2323232323 You set off on wrong foot, put 'talking therapy' (aka psychotherapy) into thread, out of context.. suggested psychiatry "isn't talking therapy" 🤷‍♂️ You are correct: psychiatry requires excellent communication skills (including listening.. where active/reflected may be best).

What you did wrong is waltz in on a conversatoon between doctors and assumed I don't know something about my own field. Communication is not "talking therapies" it is far broader, and yes psychiatrists do counsel their patients all the time, in hospital and outpatient settings. I certainly did so. Anyway, I've been very ill for a week and I'm too annoyed to stay polite so have nice weekend.
