Ever wondered why you don’t get Pork Curry in ‘Indian’ restaurants in Britain but do get beef Madras? Cows are sacred in India and Hindus never eat beef. Most Indian restaurants in Britain are not Indian but Bangladeshi or Pakistani. You can assume that you are always eating Halal meat and much of it unstunned.

As a Developer , have you asked yourself how "Typing…" shows up instantly in WhatsApp? Is the app refreshing every second ? Or is there something else happening behind the scenes?

update on this: i called Apple support, and they said they’d replace my entire phone for 8900 INR, which is around $99-the exact same as what it’d cost in the US lol i unfortunately live too far away from all the Apple Stores tho, so they can’t directly send me a replacement-i had to request one from one of Apple’s Service Providers in my area-i contacted the closest one and scheduled a pickup for wednesday so they can assess the damage looks like everything’s going well so far 🥹

@MappilaMan @dlwiest @JDHellequin @shanaka86 It’s not their people, the EUs role is regulating Europe not Europeans. They effectively have the same duty as the US federal government but even less so. For them to overstep as they have is them asserting powers identical to a country.

48 HOURS THAT SHOOK THE WORLD December 5: The European Union fines X €120 million. First penalty ever under the Digital Services Act. December 7: The owner of X calls for the EU to be abolished. “I mean it. Not kidding.” 8 million views. 194,000 likes. And counting. This is not a regulatory dispute. This is the owner of the world’s town square, serving simultaneously as a senior US government official, calling for the dissolution of a 27-nation political union governing 450 million citizens and €17 trillion in combined GDP. The sequence: Fine issued. Ad account terminated. Abolition demanded. Three moves. Forty-eight hours. The post-war European order now faces its most direct challenge from a private citizen since 1945. What makes this different from every billionaire grievance before it: He owns the platform. He advises the American president. He controls the satellites. He builds the rockets. He moves markets with single sentences. The EU has no app store to threaten. No ad revenue to pull. No infrastructure leverage. Their only power was regulatory. And the man they fined just told 600 million monthly users their institution should cease to exist. If Brussels escalates, they validate his narrative of overreach. If Brussels retreats, they signal regulatory capture. If Brussels ignores, they appear irrelevant. There is no clean exit. The question is no longer whether platforms are too powerful. The question is whether anyone remains powerful enough to govern them. We are watching the collision between 20th century institutions and 21st century infrastructure in real time. The tribunal has been dismissed by the defendant. What comes next has no precedent.

@JamesRLandrum @dlwiest @JDHellequin @shanaka86 Even if EU's takes a bad, it's something they need to follow to be there. I don't personally support EU's approach, but it's their jurisdiction, their people, their regulations.

𝕏 just terminated the EU Commission's ad account The same EU Commission that fined 𝕏 for so-called “deceptive design” quietly logged into its dormant 𝕏 ads account and exploited an ad format - posting a link that deceives users into thinking it's a video, to artificially boost its own reach It had never been abused like this before

@dlwiest @JDHellequin @shanaka86 If you have an office in EU and you operate there, you need to follow the rules and regulations. Even if you don't have offices there, if your platform needs to be accessible from that geolocation, you need to adhere to the rules and regulations of that place.

@JDHellequin @shanaka86 If the US tried to force its own regulations on a company that’s owned and patronized mainly by Europeans, I think that company would be well within its rights to tell the US to kick rocks. A country’s town squares should not be governed by another country.

The irony of your announcement: You logged into your dormant ad account to take advantage of an exploit in our Ad Composer — to post a link that deceives users into thinking it’s a video and to artificially increase its reach. As you may be aware, X believes everyone should have an equal voice on our platform. However, it seems you believe that the rules should not apply to your account. Your ad account has been terminated.
European Commission@EU_Commission

Today, we fined X for non-compliance with transparency obligations under the DSA. We're holding X accountable for: 🔹Deceptive design of its ‘blue checkmark’ 🔹Lack of transparency of its advertising repository 🔹Failure to provide access to public data for researchers ↓
