Meet Sofia! Sofia is a Sarasota local who grew up coming to @MoteMarineLab. This summer she’s working with Dr. Jake Lasala in the Sea Turtle Research and Conservation Program. Sofia hopes to use the skills she learns here to become a wildlife rehabilitator! #diversityinstem

Meet Elliot! The youngest of our cohort this year, Elliot is working with Dr. Cindy Heil in the Red Tide Institute. Although pursuing a career as a physician, Elliot is excited to grow his skills as a scientist during his internship. #diversityinstem #latinxinstem

First up is Ana Beltran! A student from #SCF, Ana was chosen to be our first student to work with our partner @perryinstitute in the Bahamas! She’ll be spending a lot of time in her internship underwater looking at BIG fish like sharks and grouper! #DiversityInSTEM #LatinxInSTEM

So proud of Xavier, my @MarSci_LACE intern, for a great presentation on his work measuring disease progression with imageJ during his internship! Xavier was new to marine science and learned so much about corals while helping out with coral care and experiments. Great work!
