Tolashe has come under fire for failing to declare a donation of two SUV’s she received from Chinese Manufacturer BAIC.
Tolashe said the cars were donations to the ANC Women’s League however the ANCWL denied this.

Guys, filmmakers aren’t employees. They don’t fit the typical labor department spec. they are called “independent contractors” which means they have NO LABOR RIGHTS, NO RETIREMENT FUND, NO UIF. they work 12hrs six days a week with overtime that may or may not be paid. And you know what?! They will continue to take jobs with questionable contracts and productions because people survive gig to gig and pray to God the producers won’t pull a fast one on them..
Productions not paying people is actually more common that it is aired on news platforms. We have a minister of arts who gives us a middle finger every chance he gets so we can’t even rely on him for support. The public mocks us for taking “senseless jobs” or assuming we’re “spending money recklessly”.
Unfortunately our cries keep falling on deaf ears and we are literally on our own. We can’t even afford stay aways cos breach of contract and no work no pay. Support filmmakers whenever you can guys. It’s extremely tough, especially for crew.
