@AdamRomer13 Having worked in both countries I can say an NTC doesn’t produce more pros nor improve playing opportunities…Poland produces more pro players because it has a good club structure, whereas Scotland really doesn’t.

@thaikwiatkowski I’m a coach of juniors and pros and have been for the last 25 years! I can tell you, in the last 2-3 years things in College recruitment have changed dramatically but the best coaches still recruit the best juniors. That was a silly comment…

Taking a junior player I coach to Kzoo in two weeks. Asked a friend who shall not be named (coach of top 20 D1 program) if he’s going to Kzoo / we should catch up. He said “I don’t recruit juniors” 💀😂

@Calvbetton Doubles is clearly a synergistic and advantageous part of the tennis tournament ecosystem. I cannot think of one reason why they refuse point blank to market and advertise the doubles players. It’s simply incomprehensible.

@MarcelduCoudray @FlipBlue2026 If you don’t have doubles then you can’t sell grounds passes past day 4 of a tournament. If you can’t sell grounds passes then you arent selling close to as many t-shirts, beers, food, caps etc etc. It’s impossible to gauge how much money doubles generates, but it’s a lot

Yesterday there were no men’s singles matches at Wimbeldon. There was however a men’s doubles final in front of a packed Centre Court.
Tennis TV had zero posts about it on their instagram account. Same for the semis. But it’s doubles that is the problem, not lack of promotion.

@FlipBlue2026 @Calvbetton That’s simply not accurate. A stand alone doubles only tour would sell tickets, of course at a smaller scale but that’s not really what anyone wants. Market the players, advertise them, they would actually generate revenue for themselves but not marketing doubles at all? Silly

@polsatsport Polish coaches deserve lots of credit for producing well coached players with good technique & solid fundamentals. Maybe not many Polish coaches with experience & knowledge of the pro tour, but the ones who do have are very good! A huge shout out to the Polish tennis coaches!

Everyone seems to have an opinion on Iga Świątek, so here’s mine. All players go through 3 phases when they consider quitting. The first is in the teen years. The second is mid to late 20’s and the third time is WHEN they quit. Iga will be fine, it’s her 2nd phase, not a crisis.

@jamesgraysport I agree, players and their teams HAVE to know the rules - agents should have lawyers on speed dial. I’m not sure we know everything that happened that night when she decided not to test. I hope for her that the ban is reduced on appeal, but there is no precedent here…

I understand that players want to support players, and I understand that Marketa Vondrousova panicked in what she perceived to be an unusual circumstance.
But it is part of the job of a tennis player to know and understand the anti-doping regs. Get that wrong at your peril.

@MarcelduCoudray If one athlete has no fault (or very close to no fault), and another is negligent, and other is intentional, then how is it fair to give even two of those three the same sanction? It can't work. The system has to, frustratingly at times, assess each case independently.

Vondrousova said similar in defence.. But "never failed a test" is irrelevant when the violation is for refusing to take one. Like claiming to be an astronaut because you never failed NASA's qualifying tests. The system has to treat refusal as the worst doping violation.

The four-year ban for Vondrousova is so far too severe. Has never failed a test, was diligent with her whereabouts, and her only omission was refusing a test outside of her whereabouts times. Four-years… that’s crazy. Where’s the common sense gone?

@Scienceofsport Yes, given Majchrzak’s case, which I was involved with as his coach, absolutely! I know the corruption from within the system. The two or three layered application of the rules…very very differently applied!

Regarding the Vondrousova ban, I bet loads of players don’t know they can’t refuse a drugs test, even if it’s outside their allotted hour each day.

@MertovsTDesk I’d need to read every case (which I won’t 😊) but I can’t really imagine any athlete saying “I did it intentionally”. My bigger issue is the lack of consistency from the ITIA.
