@EdinvaleFarm I feel there’s no point in outwintering some stock classes for the sake of saying they’re outwintered. If the sheds are there and it can fit, as in use surplus summer grass made in to silage and give you more to go at as an early turn out then don’t get hung up on it to much🤷‍♂️

For the last three years we have failed to outwinter our young stock effectively so this year they are coming back inside for 4 months. Whether calves too small, ration not right, weather conditions, I simply don't know but we can't have calves standing still or going backwards

@ClynelishFarm Battled with the same problem for years here Vic, unfortunately the only thing I’ve found to work is to feed a small amount of concentrate. Beet pulp was ideal but pretty expensive. Finishing on red clover seems to have solved the problem for now

Grass is super lush & seems to be going straight through some of the lambs we have left (which were mostly fairly unimpressive in the 1st place 🫤🙈) Any suggestions for getting fibre into them? I want to put out a bit of straw and see what happens but Mr B is resisting 😬
