In Roraima in northern Brazil, I saw how Operation Welcome provides dignified, practical support to people on the move. @UNmigration is working alongside federal authorities and partners to strengthen reception, protection, and integration.

Productive meetings today across the Government of Brazil - from social development and human rights to foreign affairs and justice. Together, we are strengthening integration and well‑managed migration systems that uphold dignity, and expand opportunity.

Across Brazil, families, workers and newcomers contribute to vibrant communities. Arriving in #Brazil, IOM's partnerships are strong. With government and private-sector partners, we are advancing practical solutions that support protection, inclusion and long-term development.

Proud to share that IOM is now co‑leading the new Global Shelter, Land and Site Coordination Cluster. This matters. It brings vital support together so families caught in crisis can find safety faster and begin rebuilding their lives with dignity.

One week on, I remain struck by the scale and coordination of #Brazil’s reception strategy, as well as the dedication of those working every day in Pacaraima to support migrants. Their commitment brings care and dignity to people seeking protection and pathways to integration.

As I conclude my visit to #Brazil, I want to acknowledge the people who make this work possible. From our national colleagues, to our private sector partners and government counterparts, the support being delivered here is centred on the needs and dignity of migrants.

At the Brazil/Venezuela border, I’m seeing first hand the efforts to aid migrants’ dignified arrival and help them rebuild their lives. ‘Operation Welcome’ is a global example led by Brazilian Government that responds to the needs of migrants and a strong comprehensive strategy.

In Roraima, #Brazil, I saw Operation Welcome in action: a civil-military-humanitarian partnership at the main entry point for Venezuelans. IOM fully supports these efforts, and to date has assisted over 600,000 with documentation and 150,000 with integration across the country.

It was a pleasure to meet with government officials in #Brazil and learn about the impressive work to promote migration policies and concrete measures to assist migrants. #Brazil has a vision and is leading by example to ensure protection, social assistance and integration.

As I begin my time in #Brazil, I am impressed by its human-centered migration policy and dignified reception to people on arrival. During this period, I am eager to reaffirm our support for this work and how best to advance humane, rights based migration governance.
