🇦🇷 Most people don't realize that "Chiqui" Tapia, the president of Argentina’s national soccer federation, is already under investigation inside the country. So Romain Molina’s report is unlikely to surprise many Argentines. An Argentine appeals court confirmed on June 26 that Tapia, treasurer Pablo Toviggino, and the Argentine Football Association, known as AFA, are being formally prosecuted for alleged tax fraud. The case stems from a complaint filed by Argentina’s tax authority, accusing the federation of failing to properly declare and withhold taxes. AFA has denied wrongdoing, saying all required tax filings were submitted correctly. Businessman Guillermo Tofoni has also filed a separate fraud complaint against Tapia and Toviggino. So while Molina’s video is now drawing international attention, Tapia’s legal problems at home were already moving through Argentina’s courts before the story went viral. And if you ask Argentines, most cannot wait to see Tapia out of the AFA. Source: La Nación / Writer: Sol

🇦🇷 FIFA is facing serious questions over how it handled allegations involving Argentina’s women’s youth program. French journalist Romain Molina says at least five underage players accused former coach Diego Guachi of mistreatment, psychological harassment, and explicit sexual comments. The players reportedly asked FIFA to protect their identities, but its Ethics Committee closed the case for lack of evidence and disclosed their names. Molina also claims internal pressure helped prevent the case from advancing, with institutional relationships prioritized over the protection of the players. The allegations remain unproven, but the handling of the complaints alone raises major concerns about FIFA’s safeguarding system. Source: Infobae / Writer: Sol
