The NDP had a chance today to show respect for Sikh British Columbians as well as the sikh community worldwide who them and their families suffered state-sponsored violence in 1984 and who continue to stand in Chardi Kala.
A motion to recognize the 1984 Sikh genocide was blocked by the NDP and then called “gross” what a deep disrespect to pain and lived history of the Sikh community.
Ndp must answer to the community.

Motion M213 recognizing the 1984 Sikh Genocide, introduced by Surrey North MLA Mandeep Dhaliwal, was denied leave to be introduced on the floor by NDP. Later, following a point of order raised by MLA Dhaliwal, NDP Minister Lisa Beare had to apologize and withdraw her comment after shouting “gross” as Dhaliwal sought leave to introduce the Sikh genocide motion.
