@piotrsankowski Piotr, how can we attract young talents to IT if tabloid such as Onet or Gazeta Wyborcza are publishing articles about disaster on IT labour market in Poland, IT professionals being fired by thousands every day, plumers making more money than top IT expersts?

A clear conclusion emerges from the latest World Bank report on AI's potential for Poland: the effective implementation of AI could add an additional 12% to our GDP growth in the coming years. However, for this growth to materialize, Poland must invest on an unprecedented scale in educating and reskilling our workforce for higher value-added roles that will leverage AI. The document places its main emphasis on the broad adaptation of the labor market, diagnosing three key challenges: - General digital skills: Barely 50.4% of Poles possess basic digital competencies (compared to the EU average of 60.4%). - Reskilling: Since AI will soon automate many routine tasks (which will heavily impact, among others, our massive business services sector), rapidly supporting workers in transitioning to new roles is absolutely crucial. - Business adaptation: Today, the greatest barrier is not access to the technology itself or its creators, but the ability to implement it effectively in the market. This requires an urgent strengthening of managerial competencies in AI alongside robust investments in infrastructure. When discussing human capital, we encounter a massive paradox in Poland. Technological transformations in recent years have led to immense interest in computer science, and the recent generative artificial intelligence revolution has only accelerated this process. In the 2024/2025 academic year, it was the second most popular field of study in the country (with a staggering 35.7 thousand applications) - as perfectly illustrated by the attached chart. Logic dictates that we should increase admission limits, as IT specialists will continue to be essential for building broad digital competencies across society and supporting the aforementioned reskilling. Meanwhile, universities worldwide - because this is not solely a Polish problem - are grappling with a severe Capacity Crisis. For instance, universities in the US, where the number of IT students has tripled since 2006, are suffering from profound staff shortages. Outstanding researchers and lecturers are leaving en masse for the private sector for exponentially higher salaries. The costs of education are rising so drastically that UC Berkeley, for example, had to reduce its computer science admissions by nearly 60% (from over 1,000 to around 350 annually) after the department’s budget collapsed under the soaring costs of teaching assistants. Poland is a stark example of how this global brain drain, combined with our specific legal and financial architecture (such as the rigid barriers of the subsidy algorithm), creates a structural impasse. The consequence is a chronic, long-standing shortage of specialists. According to PIE data, we currently lack around 147,000 IT professionals. The structural disparities are alarming: - Sweden: 8.6% - 8.9% ICT specialists in total employment - EU Average: 5.0% - Poland: a mere 3.6% - 3.8% If we, as a nation, do not break through these systemic bottlenecks, retain top talent at our universities, and invest heavily in the competencies of our society, the promised GDP growth will remain nothing but a pipe dream, and we will squander our chance to shape a future driven by AI.

Universal HIGH INCOME via checks issued by the Federal government is the best way to deal with unemployment caused by AI. AI/robotics will produce goods & services far in excess of the increase in the money supply, so there will not be inflation.

Polska powinna wprowadzić system punktowy i ściągać talenty z Top 100 najlepszych uniwersytetów świata, tak jak Hong Kong: "Top Talent Pass Scheme, a visa programme introduced in 2022 that includes fast-track access for graduates from the world’s top 100 universities; it has approved about 109,000 applications so far. “It’s just much easier to source global talent now,” he says." ft.com/content/6ff442… @MaciekDuszczyk
