The intersection at Highway 48 and Old Homestead Roadmeets the warrant for traffic signals and has now been added to the Provincial Highway Improvement program. I have been diligently working with my colleague, Minister @PrabSarkaria, and closely collaborating with Mayor @Margaret_Quirk to make sure that the residents of Georgina and visitors travelling on Highway 48 receive the upgrades needed to get to their destinations safely in 2025.

Homicide Unit Investigating Double Shooting in Keswick Investigators from the York Regional Police Homicide Unit are appealing for witnesses following a double shooting in the Town of Georgina. On Tuesday, September 18, 2024 at 7:28 a.m., police responded to the sounds of gunshots in the area of Bayview Avenue and Lowndes Avenue, in Keswick. 🚒 @georginafire received a $29,527 grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada. It will be used to buy a Digital Vehicular Repeater System for Rescue 189, allowing the department to improve & maintain communications during an incident. 🔗bit.ly/3X4KR4r

This is truly a remarkable story. Healthcare is notoriously slow to bring things to bear, whether it is strategy or needed programs or medical innovations. The community of Georgina is large, their people dispersed, and medically underserved.

Congratulations to Keswick’s own Erin Ambrose who has been named the top defender in the first season of the Professional Women’s Hockey League. Ambrose had 18 points in 24 games and was also named to the PWHL’s first All-Star Team. Congrats Erin!

Today we were presented with the Best Public Sector GIS Award from Be Spatial for our Community Risk Assessment – Live Data Portal. Mayor Quirk presented the award to the CRA Team - Deputy Zwicker, Captain Veenstra, GIS Analyst Bojan Balmazovic and Comms Specialist Katelyn Moore.

The Community vs @YRP Pickleball Challenge is in the books! Although @Margaret_Quirk and I will want a rematch tonight was a great opportunity to bring the community together with our local hero’s and share in some laughs! There is so much more beyond the badge! #DeedsSpeak
