TL;DR: high latitude, marginal reefs are special places but not safe havens for corals under climate change. Climate change is real, by the way.

This work was part of my PhD @EEIatHull @PanoramaDTP and @jsps_sns London short term fellowship hosted by @LabMise with support from @LenfestOcean #MPAshift.

Not being able to move means that tropical corals are continuously threatened by the effects of climate change. Because high latitude corals are locally adapted to the marginal reefs, they are every bit as vulnerable too, as climate change changes marginal reef conditions also.

How do we know this? We sampled Pocillopora corals along the Kuroshio current, from the southern islands of Okinawa to Wakayama in mainland Japan. @MariaBeger @JDReimer @HirokiKISE @PalmasStephane @W_V_Hsiao @brig_sommer @domino_joyce (and many brilliant non X coauthors)
