Check the record! I didn’t prevent, facts matter. I created tools, most folks understand that respecting neighbors is important to their projects. This developer did not and now he has carry cost that he wants to recoup making a more reasonable development almost impossible.

What a horrible thing to say about residents in Philadelphia who rent. This is a former Philadelphia City Council member who prevented 100 plus units from being built on a lot that needed a zoning variance. Unfortunately this is way too common in Philadelphia & needs to change.

@CMThomasPHL For the record I was the one who did the BIRT analysis 2011 to prove BIRT, NET BIRT, was a problem for small businesses. Our colleague Domb agreed and advocated. I changed, with Council support, how we viewed BIRT in this city. My legacy work.

I’ve long said that Philadelphia is a city of the working poor. My former colleague Allan Domb has the right idea when he first proposed lowering the BIRT. While on Council I partnered with him to lower the BIRT tax to make it easier to own and operate businesses in Philadelphia.
