I found the whole obsession with Kashmir choorian so cute and wholesome. Like an entire generation of young girls yearning for a certain kind of glass bangles and excited for eid also made me look forward to it after a long time.

A Daewoo ticket from Lahore to Pindi that uses to cost 3700 now costs 4300. Add to it the Uber cost for getting to and from the station, one round trip is now 10k. It's insane. I can't do this isl-lhe-isl thing every weekend now unless my salary is adjusted for inflation.

Barely in our teens we would borrow burkas from our aunts/mothers and go visiting our relatives on cycle risckshaws. I always got more eidi than my cousins because I was a guest from out of town. Sighhh ... we lived in the moment.

leave overnight for best color. Sleeping with plastic shopping bags wrapped around our wrists wasn't easy but the bright red color next day made up for all the discomfort. I feel sorry my kids never got to experience it.

My favorite eid memory is going to Dera Ismail Khan to spend the holiday with maternal family. They loved in a big joint family home that came with a brick courtyard and a barn for cows/buffalos and round wicker baskets for the chickens. We would usually enter from the back
