Las cariopatías congénitas son la segunda causa de muerte en niños <5 años en México. Nuestro estudio encontró que en municipios con más industria contaminante en México, el riesgo de tener una cardiopatía congénita es mayor. La falta de acceso a salud agrava el problema.
