Why do you think it's so hard for math teachers to give the kids the floor?

Met a great group of teachers on Dec 13 at 4 pm, eager to learn. The profession is full of good ones.

I worry about bandwagons. I hope teachers realize that big ideas are important because they change the way you teach.

Finally finished writing all first drafts for Leaps and Bounds Grades 5/6-- intervention program from Nelson. Looking good.

I was a little intrigued when Cathy twee ted thru my presentation-so many connections. I am back.

worked with Francophone colleagues yesterday. Our issues are the same. Our solutions are the same.

Junior math is so cool-- so much fun today in North Bay.

It's also neat that the open question thing has really filtered down== so many of them got it even at the start.

Math Camppp is over-- so sad. The power of a large group of committed teachers is awesome.

Working in the heat today was challenging, but it was great how much participants stayed on task and worked out some complicated issues.

Sudbury today working with mostly high school teachers to create more valuable learning goals filtered through big ideas. Fun!

Delaware high school teachers are all being told to use NSF texts. It will be interesting to see how the more conservative ones react.

At a research meeting today. Interesting how different we are in thinking about what math ed research questions are worth exploring.

Interesting discussion on communication and how teachers may be part of the problem - filling in the blanks when answers are incomplete.

Two days of PRIME facilitator training out west reminds me that it's still pretty relevant even though it's been out for 5 years.

Worked in Calgary today and travelled to Prince George BC this evening. This is an amazingly interesting, varied, and beautiful country.
