On Thursday 26th March, David Baines MP will be joining me to host a Public Forum in the Town Centre. This is your opportunity to speak directly to us about what matters most — and to share your ideas on how future Government funding should be invested to improve your community.

Recently, I spoke about the importance of early testing for Type 1 diabetes in children. I shared the story of Gracie, who was just minutes away from passing at the age of one. We cannot allow stories like Gracie's to continue to happen. Full video here:

Last week, I joined colleagues in writing to the Foreign Secretary about the situation in the West Bank. I urge the Government to move beyond statements of condemnation and consider measures to uphold international law and protect the prospects of a viable Palestinian state.

Yesterday I spoke in the House about the importance of proper funding and a national strategy for palliative and end-of-life care. I shared my own experience and highlighted the incredible work of Willowbrook Hospice.

Yesterday I wrote to Government, urging support for coalfield communities through the Coalfields Regeneration Trust. Their proposal would create a £100m fund to build units, support SMEs and create jobs in former mining areas. Coalfield communities deserve investment.

Today I wrote to Government about the need for faster diagnosis and better support for those with endometriosis. Some women wait several years for answers. I’ve asked what action the Government will take to improve clinical training, early recognition and workplace support.

These are really positive changes and a clear example of what the council can deliver when it finally starts to receive the funding it needs from Government. We’ll keep fighting to make sure this progress continues and that things only improve from here.

So there we have it. Reform UK want to repeal the Equality Act. This is the law that: Stops your boss sacking you for being pregnant. Protects disabled workers who need adjustments to do their job. Backs up equal pay for women. Stops people from being harassed at work because they’re LGBT+. Makes it illegal to refuse someone a job or a service because of their race or religion. And THIS is what they’ve decided is the problem in Britain? Not the cost of living. Not NHS waits. Not wages. (They said they’d actually them CUT for young people) But YOUR rights. THEIR culture wars would TEAR UP protections that millions of hardworking Brits rely on every day. NO THANKS ❌
