@CarlowWeather @openeir @NatBroadbandIrl We privatised Eircom it's had 4 private owners since with only 1 objective. In our parish @barryroe NBI are replacing all the neglected rotten poles so we taxpayers are paying twice for neglect and incompetence .

One issue ahead of another storm is lack of maintenance and replacements on the @openeir network of poles. So many poles are rotten and sadly this impacts all providers including @NatBroadbandIrl we need better preventative maintenance on the network.

2/2 Let's at least start the debate and decide (a) if it's technically feasible (b) If it's affordable and (c) A timescale for possible implementation. Of course let's do Cork county first.

1/2 A lot of debate on @rteliveline as regards vulnerability of our @ESBNetworks I was in Denmark last summer and I noticed that their entire network (apart from huge distribution pylons) is underground. I drove Billund to Jutland and not a pole nor a wire to be seen.
