At our LCS I’ll get 5-10 assort cards for 5 bucks. They give him extra just to be nice though. I have no idea what normal rates should be

You can tell collectors apart by how they treat their ‘bulk’. For Pokemon, specifically, energy cards. How do YOU treat your energy cards?

@BoltDad @KabutoKing_ Same. I’m at the point where on Fridays after school we go to the local card shop and pick out a few singles that he likes. Drop $20 there and get a handful of cards. It’s not as exciting and he’ll likely lose interest soon. But this card environment just isn’t for young kids

@KabutoKing_ I’m very bummed. My kid and I were so excited for this set and I’ve found only 2 boosters in the wild. I am also not paying these astronomical prices scalpers are setting. It sucks. I got my kid into this at the wrong time and it’s disappointing. We just want to collect 😭

@vap0r1 @Karen67470875 Allegedly, “impacted learning” is the dividing line. He is in first grade, but reads like a high schooler and can math way beyond his years.

Anecdotal: my kids have been homeschooled for a month now. One child is a diagnosed ASD2 who had a full time aide in class. The other child is a normal, thriving straight-A student. Guess which child benefited from homeschooling to the extent he’s already doing math two grades ahead.

@ShawnRyanShow That’s great. Homeschool your kid if you have the means and the time. But that isn’t the answer for the majority of parents. So it comes across as virtue signaling when you say shit like this.

They say public school prepares kids for the real world. Yet, most graduates can’t balance a checkbook, hold eye contact, or make a logical argument without getting offended.

Teachers who deliver excellent outcomes for kids should be paid a LOT more than teachers who fail to deliver results. The fact that this is controversial is a scathing indictment of the status quo in public schools.
