Wow, quote cloud from (de-identified) patients undergoing follow-up for treated cancer 👇🏻 There is so much more to life than what we can see on scans or assay in labs Embodied experience is not as readily quantifiable but then again not everything that matters can be measured

13 @Intermountain hospitals have been given the Human Rights Campaign designation of 2022 “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader”. It's a good start, but we have much more work to do.

Among adults hospitalized with symptoms similar to COVID-19, unvaccinated people who had COVID-19 recently were 5 times more likely to test positive for COVID-19 than people who were recently fully vaccinated. @Intermountain @Research_Inter

Vaccination protects more than just you. Do you know someone who's being treated for cancer or is in remission? Do you know someone who's had a transplant or has a compromised immune system? Their bodies can't develop the antibodies to protect themselves. (1/

Sam, thank you and all our critical care, medicine, and ED teams. If you're not sure about getting vaccinated, stay curious and get answers to your questions. You don't want to join the 3.4 million COVID survivors with lasting health problems.
Samuel Brown@DrSamuelBrown

The COVID patients keep coming. I've never seen us so full in the summer (except in prior COVID surges), and it's all the hospitals that are filling up again. If you're not fully vaccinated and you're not wearing a mask then you're putting yourself and others in danger.

“The more important thing is to get a vaccine. It doesn’t matter which one. Just get it,” said Dixie Harris, MD, a pulmonologist at Intermountain Healthcare. “Any vaccine is better than no vaccine, according to the data I’m seeing.” More: Intr.mn/umZt50DOALi

@Intermountain Grateful for the questions today. Let's stay strong with masking, social distancing and hand washing as we push forward on vaccination.

For everybody worried about the 'British' strain, I recommend @kakape's article in Science. I think there is just not enough data to draw firm conclusions. But given the spike of cases over the last days in the UK, add'l measures are probably a good idea. sciencemag.org/news/2020/12/m…
