US President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated video clip on Thursday, February 5, that depicts Barack and Michelle Obama as apes dancing to ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’ by The Tokens. The clip appeared at the end of an unrelated documentary-style video that promoted unfounded claims that voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election had tilted the results in Joe Biden’s favor. That video was produced by Patriot News Outlet, a pro-Trump conspiracy theory website that describes itself as “ultra-MAGA.” The AI-generated cartoon depicting the Obamas as apes was first posted in October by X user Xerias_X, who regularly posts pro-Trump memes and AI-generated videos. Trump previously shared another video that Xerias_X had posted, which depicted Trump piloting a fighter jet and releasing large amounts of feces over hundreds of anti-Trump “No Kings” protesters.
