Billionaire Chamath Palihapitiya explains that once he learned the mainstream media was lying to him, he left the Democrat Party “You went from being a large Democrat donor to now a very outspoken proponent on the other side of the aisle” Chamath Palihapitiya “Yeah — This is not about politics for me, it's about the truth. There was a moment where I was basically like everybody else, and pretty brainwashed. My media diet was very much the same as everybody else's. I read the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. I watched a little bit of CNN, a little bit of CNBC, a little bit of MSNBC, a little bit of CBS Economist. Every now and then you encounter it on a plane and you think you know what's going on, and I had a perception of Donald Trump initially, from the moment he walked down the staircase in Trump Tower to announce. And then over the course of 6-7 years, I realized that some of those fundamental things that I was told about him were just totally false. And there was enough content online where I was almost afraid, but it started with Charlottesville. I was almost afraid to look at it because I'm like, I think I was lied to. And then I saw it. I saw what he said, but then I saw the portrayal. I had originally believed that portrayal until I saw the truth. And then I just started to go down that rabbit hole. So for me, it was an evolution where I was like, I can't believe I'm being lied to by this group of people whose sole responsibility is to hold truth, to power. The key word there is truth to power, not your perception or your desires. And I just think that that, that, I mean, red-pilled me, I guess in a way”

Nervous as hell for this Forecasts were so important to the UK, the RAF sacrificed planes & parts to keep Ireland’s pilots in the air reporting But the Blacksod & general forecasts were just a tiny facet of Ireland’s extensive and exclusive contribution to the Allies Have the researchers delved into the story to discover Ireland was risking its neutrality across dozens of categories to aid the Allies? Or the 9% of Irelands population that went to the UK Or will the forecast & its sender be framed as some outlier, some exception to the otherwise ‘strict neutrality’ claimed in the 20th century, but long since shown to be inaccurate following declassification in 1999? ⬇️ A nation waits… x.com/itsjohncrotty/…

Rewatching Band of Brothers. And yes, filming specifications have moved on as have effects, but dear God, the acting is sublime. Damian Lewis in this is an absolute bloody master.

Oh man! Here’s hoping for some depth of research The Irish were providing such important weather data, the Air Ministry said the supply of planes sent to Dublin for forecast duty could not be left dwindle. Despite the obvious requirements elsewhere They even sent qualified instructors to train Irish pilots, another violation of an alleged neutrality Thanks for sharing 👍🏻

Context: The story you're referring to is about **Graham Walker**, the former CEO of **Fibrebond Corp.**, a family-owned manufacturing company based in Minden, Louisiana (specializing in modular structures like concrete buildings for utilities and data centers). In 2025, Walker sold Fibrebond to Eaton (a multinational power management company) in a deal valued at approximately **$1.7 billion** (some reports note the base was around $1.4 billion, with adjustments bringing it to $1.7 billion to include the employee portion). Walker made it a **non-negotiable condition** of the sale that **15% of the proceeds**—roughly **$240 million**—be set aside as bonuses for the company's **540 full-time employees**. Notably, these employees did not own any company stock or equity; the payout was purely at Walker's insistence as recognition for their loyalty through tough times (including layoffs, fires, and lean years under his leadership since he became CEO in 2015). Key details: - The bonuses averaged about **$443,000 per employee**. - Payouts were structured to be paid out **over 5 years**, contingent on employees staying with the company (now under Eaton's ownership). This acts as a major retention incentive. - Longer-serving employees received significantly more than the average, based on tenure and other factors. - Distributions began in June/July 2025, with personalized envelopes delivered—many workers initially thought it was a prank or joke due to the massive amounts. - Walker described it as a matter of fairness and faith: "Close to a quarter-billion dollars in employees' hands felt fair," and he hoped to hear stories of its impact even decades later. This has been widely covered as an uplifting example of generous leadership, appearing in outlets like The Wall Street Journal (the primary source), Fortune, New York Post, People, and various local Louisiana reports. It boosted the local economy in small-town Minden, with employees using funds for things like paying off mortgages, buying homes/vehicles, starting businesses, or funding education. It's a real, verified event from late 2025, and the viral posts (including on X) often highlight it as a rare "real boss move" in corporate America.

@EisenhowerTime ……. A true leader
Mike Netter@nettermike

Dwight D. Eisenhower walked back onto the beaches where he once sent thousands of young men into history’s deadliest storm. In April 1964, nearly 20 years after D Day, Eisenhower returned to Normandy for a special episode of CBS Reports titled D-Day Plus 20 Years. Cameras followed him as he revisited Omaha Beach and the invasion sites. But this was not a victory tour. It was a reckoning. In 1944, Eisenhower had made the hardest decision of his life. Launch the invasion. Or delay and risk disaster. If it failed, the war could be lost. If it succeeded, thousands would still fall. He signed the order anyway. And accepted full blame if it went wrong. On June 6, 1944, boys barely out of high school stormed these beaches. Many never left them. Waves turned red. Sand became graves. Freedom was bought with lives. Twenty years later, Eisenhower stood where they had fallen. Older. Quieter. Heavier with memory. No speeches. No celebration. Just reflection. He remembered the letters he wrote to families. The nights he lay awake. The faces he never forgot. He had commanded millions. But he never forgot the individuals. This visit was not about power. It was about responsibility. A commander returning to the place where he asked everything from others. And knew the cost. He did not see beaches. He saw sons. He saw sacrifice. He saw history written in blood and courage. And he never stopped honoring it. May this act as a reminder for all who complain about our great country
