⚽️ As the @premierleague ends for another season & my beloved @stokecity get relegated after 10 years, I reflect on the season and the challenging economics of top flight football. go.ey.com/2jYCcwS

@potterscope_ Walters surely? Only Rigo and N’Zonzi have joined under Robins and the latter was clearly a Walters led effort. Robins brought Baker back which was a good move. Impressive how well Robins has done with such a limited midfield

Alarmingly, the Business Secretary just told @NickFerrariLBC on @LBC that there is: "No Gov't intervention that is going to enable your business to thrive." That's nonsense. Reducing VAT for the Hospitality sector would save business and jobs.

@Regenerate_SOT Seems an accurate reflection of the sentiments expressed by people quoted. Not the Sentinel saying it

The Sentifail has promoted some appalling headlines over the years. May as well add this one to the collection. “Fear Stone 'assets' will be flogged to prop up cash-strapped Stoke-on-Trent” Go and read The Knot instead stokesentinel.co.uk/news/stoke-on-…

@OliverKamm @DianeCoyle1859 @ForeignAffairs The sentiment is right but the factual base is wrong. Some businesses may have abandoned their superficial commitment but primarily in the USA, investors and businesses in the U.K. and EU are largely continuing but not making a noise about it

@ChampionshpTalk Stoke’s manager under no pressure at all. 2 goalkeepers, all full backs, main attacking midfielder and 3 strikers out long-term. Would be 10 points better off with a normal run of injuries. 3-3 with Ipswich despite 8 early season starters out and would have won without GK errors

The falloff for Preston and Stoke needs studying. 26 games = playoff contenders! Both lost their top goalkeeper around Xmas and have plummeted since and both managers under pressure! Do we underestimate just how good a solid GK is for a team's confidence? #pne #stokecity

It's true. Trying to bring down one of the world's nastiest and most dangerous regimes may involve some short-term economic hardship. What a despicable campaign from a party that led the rush to renewables and has saddled Britain with the most expensive and least green Blockbuster-not-Netflix versions of clean power.

Reform and the Conservatives are happy to cheer on Trump’s illegal Iran war that could send your energy bills soaring.

Uefa has serious concerns about the impact of the Premier League's new financial rules. From next season PL clubs not in Europe can spend 85% to 115% of their already bigger income on squads. The 108 clubs in Europe will be limited to 70%. 👇 bbc.co.uk/sport/football…

@stokie_stace Or maybe he is managing Agina’s development very well and he is now ready. He looked good but let’s recognise it was 25 Minutes

Another criticism of Robins, where has Agina been when we've been playing wingers and CBs at right back in JT's absence for months? I thought he was impressive tonight and did well both attacking and defending

@potterscope_ The football is not dire, far from it, and light years away from what Jones served up. We had an XG advantage of 3.5 to 1.6 against one of the best teams in the division without 8 of our best XI. Poor goalkeeping and bad positioning by Philips cost us.

I’m convinced, if you put Nathan Jones’ head on Mark Robins body, with all the injury circumstances and whatnot, everyone would be calling for his head. Why isn’t it the same for Robins, this football is dire and bottling a 2-0 lead at home is quite simply unforgivable.

Remembering 33 fans who were crushed to death and 400 injured at Bolton Wanderers’ Burnden Park stadium when a barrier and a wall collapsed during an FA Cup game against Stoke City on this day 1946. Worst British football stadium disaster until Ibrox in 1971.

@danielcflynn52 @stokecity Not the game I was at. Slow start but comfortably best team until sending off, disallowed goal and the best two chances up to that point. 2 goalkeepers, 3 of our 4 full back options, 3 strikers and our best attacking midfielder out. Now is the time for fans to get behind the team

@PaulWilliams207 @Regenerate_SOT It is a very unbalanced piece in the way it largely ignores the disconnect between a supposedly booming city and the real economic and social challenges that exist. It doesn’t mention a major drive of growth is non-market health services in a city with major health challenges

‘Stoke-on-Trent has become the engine of the organically growing digital economy in North Staffordshire, generating exceptional productivity gains for the city-region, as a whole. Indeed, since the early 2000s, The Potteries have really metamorphosed into a “Digital Dynamo”, surpassing national averages in digital employment intensity’. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

@potterscope_ A decent showing against the best team in the league when we had to start without a competitive GK or full back. The better team through the middle of the game but inevitably struggled as their much stronger bench took over. Even so, only a huge GK error away from a draw.

@Regenerate_SOT There is no polling evidence to support your assertion the public went a socially conservative soft left party.

Fascinating seeing the London based commentariat now suggesting Labour should abandon the red wall… The British public want a socially conservative, economically soft left party. Time after time after time. If you can translate that into a narrative, that’s your problem

@potterscope_ Other than. 1 Seko was woeful in Sat. 2. Seko can’t play the holding role. 3. N’Zonzi has been improving and can control a game. Guess what Robins made the right call
