This is literally insane So many people showed up to oppose a $6 billion dollar data center in Missouri they had to use bleachers The whole crowd yells and chants they don’t want the data center Festus City Council voted to approve the data center anyway right in their faces

@r_aunt2512 @WallStreetApes A 250,000 sq ft data center can run on 20-30 technicians. Even the Wall Street Journal said “The AI data center boom is a job creation bust” Feb 25, 2025.

@KirkLubimov Very similar to Sowell's two visions. Except the unconstrained vision doesn't say that people change in government -- there is an enlightened class of elites who should control the unreconstructed masses, for their own good, of course.

This is the best part from Pierre Poilievre appearance on the Diary of a CEO podcast; "Those who push a socialist ideology have a gross contradiction in their view of human nature. They say that human beings are wretched, self-interested, greedy when they’re in the private voluntary economy, but they’re angels when they’re in the governmental economy. They argue that the government should just control everything because then we have all these angels that will decide for us." 🎯

What stocks would you buy/recommend right now, and why? I'm pretty good in the market myself, but we're doing a student investment event and I'm curious what the page says.

My warm take on birthright citizenship: Wholly defensible to be against it as policy and wholly reasonable to want to reform it in some way. Also intellectually defensible to say that the 14th amendment is being misinterpreted. Doesn't mean I agree, but I don't think it's crazy either. But even if you win that argument, you still need to deal with century+ of precedent and statutory language that codifies it and has created massive reliance interests. I consider it an open question whether Congress can repeal or modify birthright citizenship. I think it is absolutely nuts and dangerous to think a president can repeal it through executive order, and defending the E.O. because you agree with the underlying policy is itself indefensible. That's it. That's my take.

9% of of all the babies born in the USA getting citizenship, based on either birth tourism - mostly from the CCP - or whose mother smuggled herself into this country illegally, is not ok and no way to secure a healthy future for Americans. If the Supreme Court doesn't restrict birthright citizenship, then Congress must -BEFORE the midterms. This is what the citizens of the United States want and require.

Besides the point, he didn’t say anything about 401k, stop waffling Also incorrect - not everyone has access to a 401k, and most people with a 401k rarely ever go over the 6% match So you’re absolutely waffling Also the $1k change that you mention is roughly 20% of your monthly income on $69k annually You’re completely out of touch with reality

Kevin O’Leary reveals you’ll become a millionaire on $69,000/year by investing 20% of your paycheck each week👀 “Take 20% of your salary of $69,000 and put it into the market each week and don't touch it”

@joelithic @TheICHpodcast My point is, this whole exercise by O'Leary is dumb. He doesn't seem to understand what $69k actually affords ppl. I am not sure why you are trying to act like his idea is realistic.

Housing cost is the issue. I used to make a salary close to that and lived in an old, 400sf studio with no amenities in DC and paid about $1400 a month, 8 years ago. The same units are now about $2000-- and that does not even include utilities or internet, which are a couple hundred $ a month extra and not mentioned in your budget. You can have some money left over to save at $69k a year, but probably not if you have children or live in a HCOL city.

it’s just so embarrassing to see how little conservatives/right wingers understand about elite environments such as college admission genuinely they don’t know how outclassed they are by their opposition

It’s absolutely shocking and insane that the Senate thinks it’s acceptable to go on recess until April 13 when a federal agency of 260,000 has not been funded. This is waning days of the Republic type malfeasance. Force these geriatrics to fly back to DC and do the job. You simply do not leave until the job is done. We expect more from basically every other profession in this country. Why does Congress get rewarded for failing to do basic job requirements?
Mike Lee@BasedMikeLee

President Trump has the power to convene the Senate under Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution “on extraordinary Occasions.” If a department with 260,000 employees (DHS) going unfunded isn’t an “extraordinary occasion”—especially while the Senate is out on a two-week recess during that shutdown with no plans to resolve the impasse beyond “we’ll deal with that in two weeks”—I don’t know what is.

A few crazy things about this race and the climate at the time. -Melissa Bishop would have been a legend without the DSD athletes. Olympic Gold, World Champ, and a WC silver. -You'd talk to a lot of elite mid-distance women behind the scenes for years and they'd be pissed off, but afraid to get reamed in the media for doing so. Or just realizing that nothing would change. -Canada's head coach who was told after Bishop finished 4th at the Olympics by a lawyer for the Canadian Olympic committee "‘You say one thing about this, I’m going to make sure you’re banned for life in all sports.’” -Lyndsey Sharp did speak up and got torn apart in the media, so the fear was real. It was just a wild time. And many women lost a lot of money and glory because of it.

After today's excellent decision by the IOC.,if the Rio 2016 women's 800m. was held today, the 3 medallists in my photo. Wambui, Niyonsaba & Semenya would be barred and the medals would go to Canada's Melissa Bishop, Poland's Joanna Jozwik & GB's Lynsey Sharp @AthleticsWeekly

I share about 100 yards of drive way with my ~70yr old neighbors. For some reason he’s obsessed with knocking down the center grass in the middle of the tire ruts and covering it with gravel. He talks about it all the time, probably 30% of all conversations I have with him are about this. He’s asking if I want to pitch in for more gravel, etc. When I put my parents in a guest house behind the barn, my dad started talking about it too. He got some roundup and sprayed his section of road. Am I missing something here? I see no problem with it. It looks fine. It occupies 0% of my mind. I’m prepared to spend 0 dollars to remedy this “problem” What is happening?
