As promised. Kim Hellberg's answer was quite something. He held back tears in an emotional answer on why Spygate is, in his words, 'disgraceful' Asked if he'd spoken to Tonda Eckert, he said: "I have nothing to say to him." #Boro gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football…

Southampton through to the Championship Playoff Final after a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough in extra-time. Shea Charles' cross found the far corner with four minutes left. Southampton to face Hull City at Wembley on May 23 for a place in the Premier League.😇 ⚠️ However, Middlesbrough are expected to keep training as they push for a sporting sanction against Southampton over the 'Spygate' saga. Middlesbrough argue Saints should be expelled from the playoffs or handed a 3-0 loss for the first leg. EFL hearing set to be expedited despite Southampton seeking more time.

COMMENT Troy Deeney has absolutely nailed it. If Southampton are guilty of the alleged charges then only one punishment is sufficient. They have to be expelled from the play-offs #Boro gazettelive.co.uk/sport/football…

🚨💣🧵 Some staggering details taken from @TeleFootball’s piece on Southampton’s alleged Middlesbrough spying mission… • The ‘spy’ had professional surveillance equipment, complete with a microphone to record voices and technology to livestream the footage back to someone watching remotely. It is claimed the man filming the session had professional filming equipment, complete with a microphone powerful enough to pick up the voice of manager Kim Hellberg and his coaching staff as they issued training instructions. • Middlesbrough have since been told by whistleblowers that this is not the first time a member of Southampton’s analyst team has been sent to record opposition training sessions this season. • Middlesbrough have informed the English Football League that they view this as a clear and obvious case of cheating and are seeking the *harshest possible punishment*. A wide range of action is possible when dealing with cases such as these, including points deductions, fines and *potential expulsion from the play-offs*. • With that in mind, the club feel they are already at a big disadvantage heading into the two-legged tie and *they believe their opponents are already aware of their starting XI for the first leg*. If they change it, they would not be picking the manager’s first-choice side. • The deadline for those observations to be returned to the EFL was set at 1pm on Friday but *Southampton are accused of missing it.* Middlesbrough suspect their Championship rivals are playing for time and hope to avoid admitting any wrongdoing until after the game on Saturday. • Middlesbrough privately believe a fine would not be much of a deterrent in this case given the benefits of gaining an unfair advantage ahead of a game of this magnitude. • They will push for the harshest possible sanction with owner *Steve Gibson probably set to raise the matter directly with his Southampton counterparts in the Riverside boardroom on Saturday*. #Boro | #UTB | #SaintsFC

🚨 Telegraph Sport can reveal the full details of the alleged attempt to steal Middlesbrough training-ground secrets ahead of Saturday’s play-off against Southampton: 🔺 The “spy” had professional surveillance equipment, complete with a microphone to record voices and technology to livestream the footage back to someone watching remotely. 🔺 A brief physical confrontation ensued when a member of Middlesbrough’s media team challenged the man, who refused to identify himself and then ran off. 🔺 The man ran into the clubhouse next to the training ground and changed into new clothes from a hidden holdall. @LukeEdwardsTele has the full story: telegraph.co.uk/football/2026/…

💰🏆 Pep Guardiola, on the HIGH PRICE of tickets for the World Cup: 🗣️ "I remember that, several years ago, the World Cup was a celebration for the nations. Fans traveled around the world, to other continents, to see their country and EVERYTHING WAS ACCESSIBLE. But in the modern era IT HAS BECOME VERY EXPENSIVE, and I don't understand the reason. Those who make the decisions could think about this and MAKE FOOTBALL FOR THE FANS. Obviously, you have to think about the sponsors and all that kind of stuff because otherwise it wouldn't be sustainable. But THE FANS ARE THE KEY by which this business can keep functioning."
