Many thanks to @ramacgenomics for molecular work in both projects, including doing very cool adaptive @nanopore seq on patient DNA on a very tight timeframe, to find potential new answers for kids with cancer.

So proud to be at #AGTA24 with Sheena Nunag and Naomi Warren from @KidsCancerInst presenting their research on new ways to identify kids at risk of cancer!

@biorxiv_bioinfo Excited to share this first paper by the very talented Naomi Warren. We were surprised by the lack of modern ancestry estimation tools, but that's now resolved! If you need to integrate ancestry into your genomic research, check out github.com/GenomicRisk/ae…

Nothing like a last minute mad rush to make my 86km. The deluge of rain this month has made this rather challenging 😂 #86KForACure

The case for widespread free RATs is clear, but @ScottMorrisonMP says “you can't just make everything free”. He didn't say that to big business as they took $billions in #JobKeeper money they didn't need. And the PM has billions more put away for election pork barreling. #auspol

1/ Cracked out the #GCAwarenessDay tshirt. Why do GCs need an awareness day, you say? Because despite genomics being a buzz word across every medical specialty, there are still so many folks in healthcare, research & public who’ve not heard of us. #GCAD2021 @GCAustralasia

@dralexswarbrick @KidsCancerInst Thanks! Initial focus will be on understanding the genomic causes of paed cancer, and how to best use and communicate risk findings in the clinic. The blue-sky goal is risk reduction: can we intervene to reduce a child's risk of developing cancer in the first place?

I am deeply honoured to have been appointed as a Team Leader at @KidsCancerInst from 2022. Looking forward to harness the power of chemical biology to target intractable oncoproteins. For better #cancertreatment for a #betterlife.

@tpq__ Interesting Thom - what are the values of the isolines? Also is h index used much in ML? Used to be all the rage in bio, but currently funders are very against any metrics at all (though who's to say if the reviewers implicitly consider the metrics anyway?)

@minouye271 Also this. For a mid-sized sequencing project, just getting the raw data into/out of a repo like EGA is a months-long ordeal. Potentially very costly with egress fees too. Data have inertia. Another major hurdle I wish was solved.
