Can you imagine anything worse for a top footballer than being forced to stay on at a tournament after being knocked out, to see who’s the best loser in the 3rd place play-off? My deepest sympathies with Harry Kane and the boys. Must be awful.

How do you provide service to a striker who hides in his own half for most of the game?
We have this debate every tournament. Kane is the common denominator in all his failures for club and country. He is the problem.

Lots of people slagging off Harry Kane, saying he "never turns up" in the biggest games. Obviously struggled vs Argentina, but he's had a great World Cup, scoring six goals despite mediocre service much of the time. No service whatsoever yesterday. Criticised for dropping deep, criticised for staying up front, criticised for not single-handedly winning the game when the team has completely stopped playing. I want the Kane era to end. Dropping deep to no effect. Ghosting biggest games. 0 open play goals past round of 16 ever. Only Scores goals in a farmer league. England needs a replacement asap.

Tuchel is an upgrade on Southgate but tactically he’s had a nightmare in the last half hour. Sitting so deep against Messi, Enzo & co is a recipe for disaster.

Got exactly what we deserved. I genuinely can’t get over what we’ve seen from Tuchel there. This feels so much worse than Croatia, Italy, Spain.
It was right there for England, playing well, leading, great options on the bench and he’s just completing botched it tactically. Thrown the initiative away and gone out in pretty pathetic style.
So disappointing.

England never learn. When the game cried out for a press-resistant midfielder, Tuchel ignored Mainoo.
We wasted Carrick for a decade, and now we're making the same mistake with Mainoo. Different generation, same blind spot.
Absolutely gutted.
