What was YOUR reason to get up this morning? Everyone needs a reason to get up in the morning. Some ambition, some goal, some task to do, something to create. How to get discouraged (If I know the steps... I can avoid taking them) If I just look around at the problems in the world, I will get depressed. I acknowledge that there will always be problems. There will always be evil, sin, dishonesty, lying, and immorality. It has been so since the fall of Adam. I sometimes want to suggest to God that He change the rules and simply wipe evil off the face of the planet. However, He reminds me He is God. He sets the rules, and I am to respond with “Yes, Lord.” Other Ways to Access this Blog: Watch Video Online | Listen to Podcast So how do I survive all the crud? God specifically tells me not to dwell on the evil (which is what 90% of the headlines scream). There is a much better strategy. He details it for us. Talk about wonderful counsel that is worth a million dollars! Here it is! "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you." (Phil. 4:6-9) Can I thrive in the midst of this all? Absolutely! There are people around who are thriving, who are creating, who are filled with love, joy, and peace in the Holy Ghost (Rom. 14:17). In every generation, some people have flourished even while others withered. We can all thrive as we give our attention to the things God has called and gifted and impassioned us to do. Discovery Ask, "Lord, what are my giftings, my call, my passions? What is the destiny You have given me? What makes me tick? What makes my heart sing? What fulfills me? What energizes me?" Now listen - record the flowing thoughts coming to you. Stop reading and write. Alignment Lord, I align myself to this vision, this passion, this goal, this destiny that You have set before me today. I know I am not able to solve all the problems of the universe, and You have not called me to or asked me to. You have called me to accomplish this thing. You have impassioned me to reach out to this goal and destiny. You have made this achievement to be that which fulfills my heart and my soul. You give me life and fulfillment as I do this one thing today. I choose to align myself with today's activities, for you have said, “Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matt. 6:34 NASB). Lord, I place tomorrow in your hands, and I set my gaze upon You, and together we will walk through this day. Thank You, Lord, for the gift of life, and joy and peace and happiness. Thank You for Your anointing that flows freely through me every day. I surrender this day into Your hands, and I tune to Your flowing thoughts and pictures within me (Jn. 7:37-39). Your words equip and enliven me. Wow! What a wonderful day this shall be! I worship You, Lord! Verse for today: Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Rom. 15:13) Psalm for today: Ps. 73 - Begins with a pure heart, followed by a defiled heart, and ends with a restored heart! GIVE WITH PURPOSE! Teach people to commune with God.
