A lot of advances in medicine are driven by individual investigators with a passion to solve a medical problem and improve outcomes. They go above and beyond. Nights, weekends. Barriers. Disappointments. With or without institutional support.
They do this despite the fact that they usually don’t gain anything financially, and often make far less money to pursue their passion for research. Their main reward is the progress itself, and that’s sufficient.
Yes, some do receive recognition, awards, and fame, but for most of my colleagues that’s not the driver of why they do what they do.

Research is never a solo effort.
It takes teamwork. It takes belief. It takes collaboration across disciplines, institutions, and communities.

In memory of Len Neckers, whose pioneering work on #HSP90 and #PTMs laid the foundation for how we think about chaperone regulation. Our latest @TrendsBiochem review builds on this legacy to explore the formation and function of #epichaperomes.
