“When I was in high school, I read and reread Steven Weinberg’s book, “The First Three Minutes”, and in college, his textbook, “Gravitation and Cosmology: Principles and Applications of the General Theory of Relativity”, well, that textbook had been a kind of companion to me. I purchased it after a lecture by Stephen Hawking got me all fired up about space and time, cosmology, relativity, and all that. And I desperately wanted to understand all the math and all the ideas, but back then, I was still a couple years away from having the necessary background.
So I simply carried the textbook around with me everywhere. Steven Weinberg was always in my backpack, and when no one was around, I'd sometimes take out the text, admire its rich blue cover, sometimes running my fingers over the title. And, when later on, I finally was able to dive in and understand the material, I felt like I'd journeyed through the cosmos with the rigorous but crystal clear Steven Weinberg as my personal guide.” - Brian Greene

English

@bernardtjoy Even though the worker who made your chocolate was actually tired, worried about rent and distracted by their screen, were they conscious that making chocolate makes the world better? Help them bridge the gap with a good tip [ie not money, yes a great Faulkner quote]
