Glasgow Tigers team pic from the 1950's. That's an awesome looking bike & I'm liking the lace up boots with straps. Can't say I recognise any of the riders apart possibly Ken McKinlay in the hat?

@UprightSpeedway What a shame. I met him once and had a good chat with him. His ‘Confessions of a Speedway Rider’ article in one of the Ivan Mauger books is wonderful. A lovely man.

Sad to hear that Gentleman Gorge Barclay has passed away age 90. Born in London 1935, rode for West Ham, Rayleigh, Rye House, Crayford & Sunderland. He retired in 1975 but I believe he stayed in or around speedway for most of his life Thoughts are with his family and friends #RIP

Has it ever been discussed who the Speedway rider is on the cover of the 1968 Ladybird book “How it works” TELEVISION.

@jeffdavies170 It is a wonderful picture that evokes many memories. The race jackets (a globe, I think) would indicate it’s a British Final. 1975 perhaps? I think that’s Ray Wilson in his Bostok leathers in white.

Yesterday I caught up with a friend I haven't seen for a few years and although we text regularly you can't beat a proper face to face chat over a nice cuppa can you ☕️

@UprightSpeedway Ole Olen interviewed by Danish TV after winning the '78world title at Wembley. To his right in multi coloured jacket is Jørgen Dorscheus whom I believe was a representative from the DMU. The day after he was live for half an hour on David Jenson's Radio 1 drivetime show!

in 1976 Reading finished 6th in the BL & lost in the 2nd round of the KO Cup to Hackney. Dave Jessup was the Racers number one with an average of 10.35 & scored 11 points int he BLRC @ Belle Vue. Their Polish rider Eugeniuez Blaszak showed promise but was recalled back to Poland.
