A hardcore hunter that hunts DIY on public lands for many species, but elk are my passion. I feed my family with wild game and embrace an outdoor lifestyle.

Dialing in on a tom with Beard Buster Calls and the @MTDecoy Miss Purrfect XD3. Another chilly turkey season morning with my bride and we could not leave Sully out of the predawn fun! @MuddyOutdoors Ground Blinds! #turkeyhunting

Pronghorn evolved in an environment where they were not required to leap like a whitetail, thus accidents like this occur on this uniquely American species. I also took this image of a buck making a clean fence hurdle. A little-known fact, I love hunting pronghorn! #pronghorn

Desert elk? My @HuntStand app took me to a new location that I’m adding to the list for elk hunting locations. Sully agrees and we definitely are expanding our study of this area with more water in the pack on future trips of course! #shedhunting

Mule deer gloom and doom. I’ve been putting some miles on in the mountains and have yet to pick up a fresh mule deer shed antler. Here’s to hoping there’s light at the end of the tunnel. I just love hunting those big-eared bandits! #muledeer #huntinglife

I learn more about hunting country while exploring it in spring than even during hunting season. Exploring it with my two best friends on a gorgeous spring day only makes the scouting outing that much more memorable. @HuntStand @MuddyOutdoors #shedhunting

When Sully and I are shed hunting, everything is “get” or “find the ball.” It’s a reference to his nonstop tennis ball retrieving addiction while at home. Hand signals are a big part of it and he’s now finding 30 to 50 percent of the sheds. @HuntStand #shedhunting

Hard to believe that 6 years ago Sully entered our lives as our reliable and loveable Sage entered retirement age. He’s been the most incredible companion for both of us and each day he mysteriously surprises us with some new mannerism! Happy birthday Sully. #bordercollie

Windy conditions blow when it comes to calling coyotes. When you have a trip planned, it’s go time and choosing the right terrain and volume can produce results to sweep you off your feet, like the gale force winds! Hitting them hard with @TeamHornady #coyotes

Hornady’s 2-day, breakneck coyote hunt couldn’t have went any smoother, even with Wyoming winds whipping. Had a great crew of hunters and @TeamHornady Hornady’s 22 ARC and 22 Creedmoor tamed the beasts! #coyotehunting #hornady

Nothing wrong with the old tested coyote calibers like the .223 Remington and .22-250 Winchester. But there’s no reason not to consider some of the newer speedsters. @TeamHornady Calibers like the 22 ARC (AR friendly) and the latest, the 22 Creedmoor are definite coyote tamers!

Scratching my head at how this shed mule deer antler ended up on a cliff ledge. And the answer is yes. I had to do my best free solo descent to recover it. Never leave a fallen shed behind. Back to fun in the backcountry. @HuntStand @Kenetrek #shedhunting

Reasons to start your morning hunts early. 1. Hike in the dark so you don’t waste any daylight hunting time. 2. Hike in the dark to evade the eyes of your quarry. 3. Hike in the dark to beat everyone to the good hunting spots, especially on public lands. Try it! @HuntStand

HOLLYWOOD! The Academy Awards (never watched them) are today, and we’ll soon be hearing “who wore it better?” Well, did the younger version of me rock it better? Next question. How far apart do you think these images were taken? Be kind. @TeamHornady #coyotehunting
