@alribahj Are you familiar with the Lingua Latina per se Illustrata course? Disregarding that it's not for Arabic, what do you think about the format?

arabic update: - 5h week 1-1 tutoring. I've now done ~350 hours 1-1. - 45 anki cards/day. found a great deck online and have been consistent with it since December (initially at 25 cards/day) Aim is B1 by May, so I can consume more native content without it being overwhelming

@ZeframM My extremely successful heuristic is that if a grown-ass adult doesn't know elementary school math then they are not good at math.

We love to hear success stories! Here's an email: "I’ve been working 4th grade Math Academy with my son for the past couple months... I just got back the results from [the Virginia] MAP... It shows that he went from not even 50th percentile, to as of last week to reaching the point of exceeding grade level requirements."

@JeffreyBiles Congratulations! More educational products using the best insights of cognitive science is a good thing! I would register even, were it not that I am satiated with Math Academy for now. Best of luck!

Imagine what education would look like if we optimized student learning just as intensely as we optimize stock market return, advertisement targeting, athletic performance, etc.

@justinskycak Is this also the reason for not having a free trial? Or something else?

The hard truth is that if you want to build a serious educational product, you can't be afraid to charge money for it. You can't back yourself into a corner where you depend on a massive userbase. Why? Because most people are not serious about learning, and if you depend on a massive base of unserious learners, then you have to employ ineffective learning strategies that do not repel unserious students. Which makes your product suck.

MathAcademy taught me that doing and some memorization can go a long way in mastering a subject, but I gotta say, now with decomposing rational functions into sums of partial fractions, I feel like I have no idea what I am learning or why. Not the case for other modules.

@justinskycak What boggles my mind that I was never taught, at any point in school or university, what "learning" actually is and how to do it.

Speaking as someone who had to suffer through a teacher credentialing program... it's actually an anti-signal when someone references their teaching credential as a qualification to speak about how learning happens.

Two high schoolers in @_MathAcademy_'s original school program are going to be dual-enrolled taking math courses at Caltech. Lucas was one of my own students for 3 years and it's been surreal to see him grow up and skill up so fast. Came into 6th grade prealgebra, learned all of HS math in 6th/7th, took AP Calc BC in 8th, and now learning university math in both the high school program and at Caltech. I am so proud of how hard my students worked, how efficient a machine we built to convert their hard work into progress, and how many other students are now reaping the same benefits worldwide.

@BramVanroy Life improves greatly when you moderate the content you consume. I try to keep social media and news for the end of the day, and I noticed it greatly improved my mood. Keep it up! :-)
