WE DID IT! 🏆 Welsh Regional Champions 2nd Section! Months of rehearsals, sectionals, and hard work… and today it all paid off. A huge thanks to @gary13davies for the last few months, it’s been a huge team effort and we’re absolutely thrilled! Next stop…. YORK!

That’s our final run-through done. Tomorrow we travel 48 miles - not 20,000 Leagues - to Swansea! Time to get some rest and be ready for the voyage. ⚓️🎺 #ContestWeekend

Two weeks to go until Swansea and if you’re travelling 20,000 leagues under the sea… you probably need a water gong... The voyage to the deep continues. ⚓️

No squid today 🦑 Just sectionals. ⚓️ Lower brass, horns and cornets all charting their course through 20,000 Leagues. Plenty of nautical miles covered this weekend and a few more weeks before we set sail to Swansea!

..later becoming principal cornet. In 2021, Nathan took a break from banding to study at Portsmouth University, where he went on to complete a Master’s degree. 4 years later, he’s returned home — and we’re pleased to welcome him back playing alongside his parents and brother. 💙

🎺 Meet our Assistant Principal Cornet — Nathan Davies! ✨ We’re delighted to welcome Nathan to the band on Assistant Principal Cornet. Nathan began his banding journey at the age of 8 with Tylorstown. After establishing himself there, he joined Ynyshir Band on solo cornet..

Outside the band, Evan is involved with Caerphilly and RCT Music Service and will be joining the National Youth Orchestra Inspire programme this year. We’re really pleased to have him on board and excited to see him continue to grow with us. Welcome to the band, Evan! 🎶

Evan started out on drum kit in primary school before adding tuned percussion during high school, and proved he’s a true all-rounder on the percussion team. That was clear from his very first concert with us — The Snowman Live — where he delivered an outstanding performance.

🥁 Meet our new kit player — Evan Cheesman! ✨ We’re delighted to welcome Evan to the band. It’s his first time playing with a brass band, but he’s settled in brilliantly and has already made a big impact in the percussion section.

🎺 Back to the Bandroom… After a well earned Christmas break rehearsals start again tonight! With the Welsh Regionals in March plus something rather exciting on the horizon (👀 more on than another time), it’s safe to say we’re looking forward to being back! Let’s go 💙
