@TotallyLeeds It’s really not. We were plying lesser opposition. When he plays he has good spells but loses the ball to often in PL and spends too much time on the floor leaving us a player short. Great impact sub to have but not a starter

@marshyleeds I have always felt Ampadu is potentially a top CB. That being said, I have liked much of what he has done in midfield so far this season, and while we have the midfield depth to move him back, it would be unfortunate.

Farke's need for a new centre-half stems from concerns that (in the 3-5-2) Rodon, Struijk & Bijol are unlikely to go through the entire season unscathed, coupled with Ampadu's increased importance in midfield.
Bournauw obv in reserve, but a loan addition is being considered too.

This does not bode well. Leeds have pushed hard on this deal, and made clear their plans to meet his exit clause. But a concrete Newcastle move would likely spell serious trouble and disappointment.
