SURREAL: Each member of the board of directors of FH health, a for-profit company, made the max allowable donation to the Ontario PC Party. A few months later, the Ontario Government asked FH health to run 10 GTA vaccine clinics. Folks, this is what we call a rigged system.

@BogochIsaac Talking about second doses and getting to fully vaccinated. The province should be opening 2nd shot AZ to those who already got the 1st shot. We are not swimming in vaccine, we’re not even swimming in a pool this summer based on this guidance...

For those worried about the % of individuals vaccinated... 1) Most surveys demonstrate that ~75-80% of Canadians want to be vaccinated. *yes yes, some surveys are lower...we should be fine. 2) Vaccine supply is constantly growing & we will be swimming in vaccines come summer.

Canada releases a #COVID19 roadmap for Spring, Summer & Fall, largely based on % of people receiving a 1st & 2nd dose of vaccine. They point out that there may be regional variation in policy, but nice to see how the next few months will unfold. Source: bit.ly/33LHrXz

There's 5000 active cases of COVID in Peel. Add to that the undiagnosed probably closer to 30000. That's 2% of the population walking around with COVID. Taking AZ gives 60-80% reduction in COVID, a reduction in transmission, and reduction in hospitalization/death

@BogochIsaac @EdTubb Totally disagree.. they (NACI) just confused Canadians all over again.

@EdTubb I agree. They have been consistent. It’s also important to contextualize risk. These are potentially life-saving vaccines, but we have to be transparent about the risk & enable informed decision making. We’ve never had this much COVID-19, and these vaccines can (& do) save lives.

I think NACI's cautious position on AZ and J&J has been more consistent than people are giving it credit for... ... it's just, that doesn't mean much when NACI's opinion was sidelined (and late) amid the attention on Health Canada + povincial/local authorities + GenX enthusiasm.
J.P. Tasker@JPTasker

NACI says AstraZeneca and J&J shots should be used by people who don't want to wait for Pfizer and Moderna or those who can't really afford to wait (essential workers).

@ASPphysician Can someone please give me a reasonable explanation why vaccine administration dips down every weekend?

Ok let me try out this idea. If people eligible for first doses of AZ don’t want them, why not let those who want a second shot get it before the doses expire? They surely are fully informed of the risks and benefits.Thoughts? @cdavidnaylor @ASPphysician

@CTV_AvisFavaro It’s simple math.0.000005% risk of blood clot with AZ vaccine. It’s an 8 to 10 times higher risk to develop a blood clot after a covid-19 infection and up to 20% rate of developing life threatening blood clot with covid if admitted to hospital.Get vaccinated!

Ontario’s enhanced restrictions were always intended to stop large gatherings where spread can happen. Our regulations will be amended to allow playgrounds but gatherings outside will still be enforced. Play outside safely. Parents keep your distance & wear masks if you can’t.

@ASPphysician How about really Closing down all non essential construction..!!!pools, renos, houses, condos etc.. you’re telling me 1 month of delay will change those peoples lives..? The answer is no. But It certainly will help change the trajectory of the 3rd wave if it’s shut down
