@drakefoster17 @johnnidijulius I like this and this is how I prefer to teach it. It’s not “bad technique” if laces are down if you transition like you’re saying Johnni. Teach toes in the mat to an elementary kid and watch them get driven to their feet every time. Thanks for the content, I enjoy you videos man!

@johnnidijulius I show laces down to stop the initial penetration from the shot. Once the head is covered/down then getting back on your toes to apply the pressure you are talking about.

IMO: shoelaces on the mat to “slide back” is bad leg attack defense. It creates zero pressure and the wrestler has an easier time driving up when extended.
