Whoa, it’s December already??! Writers, did you have goals this year? How well are you doing on them as 2024 comes to a close? Personally I had many goals I didn’t quite achieve, although I managed some big ones. With the chaos this year threw at me, I’m happy with that.

@liu_angela Never use the past perfect tense (he had seen, etc). It’s not necessary most of the time but when it is and you don’t use it, the words come across weird.

What's the worst writing advice you've ever received? I've spent years trying to shake this one off: Avoid cliches at all costs.

@somto_Ihezue Eyes. If I look anywhere else—nose, mouth, etc— I worry they’ll start to think something’s wrong with that body part. 😅

When you make eye contact, do you look into the other person’s eyes, or do you look at their forehead?

@liu_angela I let it sit for a couple weeks/ months, print off a copy and mark up, then let that sit a bit before I make the changes to the document. Sometimes the story is then up to satisfaction, sometimes there’s still something missing. Do you usually do a certain number of edits?

As someone who often overedits, I'm curious: how do you all decide when a piece (poetry and stories!) is ready to submit/publish?
