KIOXIA is printing massive profits. But ask the uncomfortable question: Do you really think profits from a market that the boss-tier players partially abandoned will last forever? Samsung, SK hynix, Micron, NVIDIA, and TSMC are not casually walking away from NAND margins. They are moving toward the next battlefield: HBM. PIM. CIM. Near-memory compute. Advanced packaging. AI memory hierarchy. Kioxia captured the profit wave because NAND/SSD became supply-constrained at the exact moment AI data centers needed massive storage. That is impressive. But it is not the same as owning the future. The next memory war will not be won by “more storage” alone. It will be won by reducing data movement, bringing memory closer to compute, and turning memory into an active part of AI infrastructure. In any case, we can expect gaming environments to become faster and have greater storage capacity.
