That's a wrap on Resident Evil: Requiem!
With about 14 hours on the clock as the credits roll, this will go down as one my favorite titles in the whole series, easily in the top 5. It's like Capcom went and picked out the best parts of RE2 and RE4 and made it even more badass. I played Grace's section in first person and Leon's in third person and that felt perfect to me.
It's hard for me to really separate what my favorite sections were, but I might even be leaning towards Grace. Resident Evil has always been at its peak when it's pushing survival horror over action in my opinion. The Rhodes Hill Care Center was very evocative of the RPD station or Spencer Mansion.
Level design was utterly fantastic with all of the classic wraparounds, puzzle doors, and setpiece moments that I couldn't get enough of. There were so many fun surprises, weapons felt satisfying to use (Requiem gun is 🤌) and Grace's performance was fantastic and really captured a terrified and anxiety stricken individual.
The fear in her breathing, panic in her words and movements really amplified the terror I felt myself lol. Excellent work by the voice actress.
Leon's section were heavy on the RE4 vibes with memorable boss battles and lots of fun new additions and quality-of-life improvements. Going to town on zombies with the chainsaw never got old and Leon's one liners were as golden as ever.
My face was pure joy upon returning to Raccoon City and the way the level design opened up was brilliant. There were quite a few times that I was genuinely surprised to see how deep different pathways went. There wasn't a single moment where I felt bored or eager to progress. I just wanted to soak every room, every battle and every little secret area.
The final hour was also some of the most intense and epic moments in the whole franchise too. I had an incredible time overall with not a whole lot of complaints to be honest. It took me a little bit to get used to the crafting system but once I did, it was smooth sailing. I was also gobsmacked at the visuals (played on PS5 Pro).
Amazing work Capcom. Can't wait for the DLC 🤘

@GravityXIII Someone also needs to start talking about the absurd speed of air vehicles in BF6. Not the agility but the top/effective speeds.
It's too fast even for the largest BF maps. Needs toning down quite a bit alongside RPG velocity and the lockon ranges. All of it is connected!

Discussing #Battlefield gunplay is challenging and its not a topic I consider to be in my lane. Regardless, the past few BF titles have had map design impacted by weapon mechanics and its time that was addressed, although I certainly missed some topics.
