@OgaHans 2 takes on this. Buying a car on finance is not a problem when you buy a car within your means. Paying as much as 10k Cash and above makes no financial sense. Also, buying a car of 20k on finance when u don't even have 2k in saving is a No No.
I’m not your Financial Advisor-
But, I strongly recommend you consider buying cars in the UK 🇬🇧 with the cash you have available.
Buying a car on Finance is gross lack of financial intelligence in my opinion.
No vex oh!🙏🏽
All jokes aside, if Arsenal doesn’t win the league this year, the UK government genuinely needs to bolster the mental health helplines when the final nail hits the coffin. The collective heartbreak in North London isn’t going to be a pretty sight.
HR: We lost the new hire today.
CEO: What happened?
HR: He resigned after his first week.
CEO: That makes no sense. We doubled his previous salary.
HR: Yes, but salary was not the issue.
CEO: Then what was?
HR: You asked him why he left at exactly 5:00 p.m. And why he left the office before you did.
CEO: I was just trying to understand his mindset.
HR: He understood it clearly. He felt the company was not paying for his work, but for control over his time.
CEO: But commitment matters.
HR: So do boundaries. He finished his work, met expectations, and left on time. But instead of that being seen as professionalism, it was treated like a lack of loyalty.
CEO: People should not rush out of the office.
HR: He was not rushing out. He was simply leaving when the workday ended.
CEO: Still, it did not look right.
HR: That is exactly why he left. He realized very quickly that even with better pay, the culture expected presenteeism over performance.
CEO: That is unfortunate.
HR: Yes. We offered him double the salary, but also gave him a preview of a workplace where leaving on time becomes a character issue.
CEO: So what are you saying?
HR: If employees are judged for having boundaries, then no amount of money will make them stay.
A higher salary can attract people. But if respect for time is missing, it will not keep them.
As someone who has worked in three of the Big 4 firms, four times in total (two in Nigeria and two in Canada), I can tell you that what is considered normal in Nigeria should be a crime.
When I moved to the UK 🇬🇧 some years back, I thought my biggest advantage was my work ethic.
Turns out… it wasn’t enough.
Not because I wasn’t skilled. Not because I wasn’t qualified. But because I was playing by rules that worked back home, in a completely different system.
UK corporate has its own language. It’s own politics. Its own unspoken expectations. And no one hands you the manual.
I had to unlearn:
• Waiting to be noticed
• Staying silent in meetings
• Thinking hard work guarantees promotion
• Avoiding self-advocacy
• Oversharing with colleagues too quickly
Growth in a new country isn’t just about upgrading your CV. Sometimes it’s about upgrading your awareness.
So here are 10 things you need to unlearn to survive UK Corporate 🇬🇧
If you’re navigating UK corporate as an immigrant, this post is particularly for you. 👇👇
Can only speak on what I’ve seen
Outside of #1, this is not a Top 10 list or in any particular order:
1. Banshee (technically was aired on Cinemax but part of their umbrella & still the 🐐) - Haven’t met one person who has seen the show and disliked it. Show has aired and been done, 4 seasons, but flies by because of how good it is. One of, if not my favorite shows of all time
2. The Rehearsal - Much more of an acquired taste, if you like Nathan and/or docu-comedies with dry and absurd humor
3. IT: Welcome to Derry - nice continuation of the IT movies, with the same kind of horror, really liked how the 1st season turned out
4. Task - one of the better shows I watched in 2025, good acting in this crime drama, only 1 season so far
5. Harley Quinn - Animated Adult Dark Comedy & if that’s down your alley can follow up with “Kiteman: Hell Yeah” & “Creature Commandos”
6. Chernobyl - recommended watch at some point, historical drama 5 episode miniseries that is exceptionally well done
7. The Night Of - really enjoyed this mini-series 8 episode crime drama, it’s been out for a decade but still deserves a mention
8. Succession - great acting and critically acclaimed. Worth a watch
9. Barry - probably Bill Hader’s best performance, a bit longer of a series than it had to be but mixes the crime drama + dark comedy genres really well
10. The Righteous Gemstones - if you’re a Danny McBride fan you’ll love this show, I loved the premise of this comedy and it delivers, probably went a littler longer than it should but enjoyed it. If you’re a Danny McBride fan who watched “Eastbound & Down” & “Vice Principals” you probably already watched this
Honorable Mentions/Others I liked:
DMZ - short limited series about a Dystopian setting that I found to be entertaining and something a bit different then the super long multi season shows, only 4 episodes total.
Peacemaker - doesn’t really need an endorsement, most people know if they are into superhero content and/or John Cena content
Bookie - short comedy show about gambling so had to include it, it did get cancelled after 2 seasons but if you like Sebastian Maniscalco, then you won’t view it as a waste of time
Penguin - amazing work by Collin Ferrell & Cristin Milioti in the DC world as a drama, really enjoyed the 1 and only season of the show, don’t have to be fully into superhero stuff to like this show
House of Dragon - another show that doesn’t need an endorsement because most people know if they like dragons and the fantasy genre and if you watched/like GoT then you probably already watch it
The Chair Company - if you like Tim Robinson (his comedy is an acquired taste for sure) then you’ll like this show. Get to see his type of comedy in a comedy thriller setting which was a nice change of pace to the short comedy stuff he’s made (I Think You Should Leave on Netflix) and more serious than (Detroiters)
The Last of Us - if you played the game, might be of even more interest to you, the 1st season was really good but was a bit disappointed with season 2, probably a show you have heard of/either gave it a try or wasn’t for you from the start
Dune: Prophecy - if you like Dune/fantasy genre you’ll probably like this show, only been 1 season with more to come out
Okay, the ‘system is bad’.
But can someone explain to me how are Grimsby players running more, showing more passion, more aggression and more pressing?
What system prevents United players from making 5 passes together against fucking Grimsby?
Fucking pussies. Weak mentality pussies.
