No more tips. SF Restaurants are getting rid of tipping and requiring a flat 20% service fee on top of food bill. Also, the back of the house receives part of that fee, not just waitstaff. Would you dine at a restaurant that did this?

@jowyang I read recently that it costs EV car drivers 4 cents a mile to run their cars. I'll never go back to a gas-powered car.

I actually think that gas prices will go to $10 a gallon, in due time. I rarely drive, and when I do, I’m driving a hybrid.

@jowyang As they are very young, I would ask them first what their impression is now of the attacks on Asian Americans. They are very young and this discussion is a journey so start with where they are right now, and take it from there.

@jowyang Some people I know are already going back to a phased-in return to the office, but I don't see a trend to athleisure; everyone I know is still business casual.

Chime in: Eventually, some workers will go back to the office. Will Athleisure replace Business Casual? Yoga pants over business slacks? Fitness shirts over button downs? Comfort over formality?

@jowyang My experience also. But I also was told by the dealer where I bought my EV that it helps them in their monthly reporting (I think to the government) to balance out gas guzzlers they sell with EVs. I don't know about hybrids.

My experience: Auto dealers selling hybrids have lower incentive to sell; Low profit margins: due to backlog, and battery shortage, strikes. I had to “push” my money to get sales team to take my money, they have incentives to sell other types of vehicles, that are on lot.
