Jolt Youth Initiative Uganda
Jolt Youth Initiative Uganda continues to strengthen its commitment to youth empowerment through the ongoing school mentorship program in Mpigi District and what a powerful session it has been! We had the privilege of connecting with 68 semi-candidate students at Kibuuka Memorial Secondary School, guiding them through impactful discussions centered on goal setting, effective time management, and discovering and maximizing their personal strengths. With the steadfast support of our dedicated mentors, Dr. Matovu Mousa and Mr. Kivumbi Ronald, we fostered a supportive and motivating environment where students were encouraged to reflect on their journeys, refocus their ambitions, and boldly rethink their future possibilities. At Jolt Youth Initiative, mentorship goes beyond simple direction; it serves as a driving force that unlocks potential, nurtures self-belief, and shapes resilient, purpose-oriented young individuals. This work reflects our bigger vision a future where millions of young people are given the opportunity to discover who they are, develop their abilities, and confidently deploy their full potential to create meaningful change in their own lives and within society. Let’s shape tomorrow, one inspired student at a time. #JoltYouthInitiative #MentorshipMatters #MpigiDistrict #YouthEmpowerment #EducationForAll #UnlockPotential

Each small act of every phase has come with good lessons, better results and buddy groups have exhibited higher levels of team work than never before! Thank you @kanosug for this opportunity to serve as we learn how better to solve community problems. Thank you lovely volunteers.

They carried their babies across the community to be here. Mothers showed up in numbers, sat through health talks, and made sure their children received the care they deserve. The community showed up for us because we showed up for them first. 🙌🏾

Big moves at Bunapongo Health Centre III! 🏥✨ From a "sorry state" to a beacon of hope for 16,000+ people in Mbale. New maternity beds are in, and the transformation is stunning. We're fighting maternal & child mortality one delivery at a time. 👶💙 @Rotary #rotaryeyamba

Shoutout to every Rotaractor who suited up, showed up, and gave their Saturday to this. No cameras needed to do good but when the work looks this beautiful, we had to document it. 📸 #RotaryEyamba #ServiceAboveSelf

The real story? The faces. The woman who hadn't slept well in weeks now holding a treated net. The expectant mother receiving her mama kit. The household that finally got sprayed after years of recurring infections. This is what service looks like up close.

Before the nets and sprays, came the knowledge. 📚 We held a 1-hour community session at the Village Health Centre II because sustainable change starts with understanding why. A protected home is good. An informed community is better.

Last Saturday, we didn't just show up. We showed out. Rotaract Kampala North headed to Mityana and we came with fumigation suits, treated nets, mama kits, and a mission. This is what United Against Malaria looks like in action. 🧵 #UnitedAgainstMalaria

Early on in my leadership journey, I was tasked with leading a team during a major operational shift. On paper, I was ready. I had the qualifications and the ambition. What I was not prepared for was the reality of leading people who were unwilling to be led by a young woman. I was mocked. I was disregarded. It shook my confidence. So I responded the only way I knew how at the time. I believed that if I sounded firmer and more forceful, I would be taken half as seriously as some of the men in similar positions. It did not work. Over the years, I have had to learn, unlearn, and relearn what it means to lead effectively as a woman. These are some of the most important lessons that shaped me: 1. It is not enough to know your work; you must communicate it clearly. Preparation and decisive execution build trust faster than force ever will. 2. Trying to overcompensate by overextending yourself leads to burnout. Respecting your own time, role, and authority signals to others how to engage with you. 3. I once believed I had to suppress parts of myself to be effective. I now understand that authenticity strengthens leadership. You can be firm and kind. Many women can relate to that early phase of overcorrecting just to survive the room. Today, I lead with far more self-awareness. Leadership is a skill. And being a woman in leadership is not a limitation. It is a perspective that, when fully owned, becomes a strength. #WomenInLeadership #LeadershipJourney

Last night's win We received a mother who had given birth from home and had bled so much , she was paper white and slipping away into the other world 💔 Immediately we resuscitated her , I ran down the corridors ,got blood and was trasnfused while others were giving medications. The first words when she opened her mouth ,was where is my baby? I am i going to live? I reassured her . Eventually she got better , baby is fine. Reflection on my side. Mothers are special ❤️, they give their lives to bring another life. Blood saves ,please donate. She was going to be another statistic had we not gotten blood in the next 30 minutes. DONATE BLOOD. @MinofHealthUG ,Nakasero blood bank. Thank you. 📸 Pinterest.

It is with deep shock that I announce the sudden death of my gentle cousin David Kitagenda Magezi, whose video is circulating on social media as people try to identify him. Today, David Magezi Kitagenda collapsed, dropped down and died while in the process of putting his shopping from a busy market into the boot of his car. He is not a stranger. He is my cousin. David is the oldest son born to the late Mr Frederick F Magezi and Mrs Marjorie Magezi whose home is on Magezi Close in Muyenga Tankhill, Kampala. My uncle FF Magezi was the longterm Executive Director of the National Insurance Corporation until his retirement. David is the brother to Rebecca Magezi Bukenya @RebeccaMageziB, Marjorie Magezi, Fiona Magezi and Frederick Magezi. Most of his life, David Magezi was a manager of different hotels in Uganda. He was also a devout Christian, active in whichever church communities he worshipped at. Always smiling, always attentive while listening to others speak, David was a very gentle soul whose preoccupation was serving the needs of others. Kino kitalo nnyo, kitalo ddala!

One of our major milestones was the launch of our Emergency Medical Skilling Program in October, implemented in partnership with JEFRAT Health Hub. While so many schools face emergencies every day ;from sports injuries and asthma attacks to burns and epileptic episodes. Having trained students on the ground can truly save lives. This program was designed to equip learners with practical, life-saving skills and the confidence to act when it matters most. The hands-on training covered;Patient assessment ,CPR ,Fracture immobilization & splinting ,Safe patient transfer ,Burns management & epilepsy first aid The sessions were energetic and deeply inspiring. Students showed remarkable enthusiasm and quickly mastered skills that many adults struggle with. Each participant received a first aid kit, enabling them to respond effectively to emergencies within their schools and communities. By the end of the year, we reached 6 schools and trained 180 students, all of whom received certificates of participation. More importantly, they left empowered ,with confidence, competence, and a strong sense of responsibility to protect life. We are grateful to JEFRAT Health Hub for the partnership and shared commitment to building safer, more prepared school communities. #JOLTYouthInitiative #EmergencyResponse #YouthEmpowerment #HealthEducation #FirstAidTraining #CommunityImpact #Partnerships
