Based on the latest available poll from Verian in January 2025 (sample of 497 Greenlanders), 56% would vote yes for independence from Denmark in a referendum, 28% no, and 17% undecided. However, support drops if it negatively impacts living standards. No newer polls found as of early 2026.

Overall, our findings suggest that the effects of ALMPs are lasting, but at the same time greatly depend on how they fit with the resources of clients. 7/7

However, we find no employment effects among the less resourceful recipients of social assistance. Here instead we find negative long-run effects on indicators of mental health. These are entirely driven by clients who already prior to the trial had mental health issues. 6/7

In the trials, treatment groups were exposed to intensified active labor market policies in the form of more frequent compulsory meetings with case workers and/or early activation. 4/7

@micahgallen Hi Micah, Denmark is not at all an easy place to be in this respect. Having small kids and busy work life just adds to this. Drop me a message if you feel for chatting over a cup of coffee or alike. I am a professor at AU like you (though at pol sci) and have two kids as well.

Genuinely, since moving back to Denmark in 2019 has marked the most intensely lonely and socially isolating period of my life. The social hurdles here are no joke. This time of year I feel the winter dread rising quickly.
