I have COVID so I missed the wedding, but I just want to give a big congratulations to one of my dearest friends, the smartest historian of religious rhetoric I know, @MartinCamper, who successfully got married yesterday. ❤️ Here's to a happy married life, Martin!

@world_on_a_wire Thanks so much, Cameron! (I'm an X ghost, so I'm just seeing this.) We missed you, but also appreciate your sensitivity to public health. Let's celebrate another time, my dear friend 🥰

However, it definitely isn't lost on me that so many of my BIPOC colleagues had some flat-out troubling experiences at #4C24, esp. with those badge checkers. Sidenote: it's the ABSOLUTE example of pretentiousness to have conference center staff stop-and-frisk for a conference.

In Sunday's NYTimes By the Book, Rebecca Makkai said, "I believe Julie Otsuka is the most original fiction writer working right now in English." Can't wait for Otsuka's keynote on March 16! @LoyolaMaryland #baltimore

"I wish I could hear more about the details and peculiarities of characters’ jobs. Not a generically boring office job, but something terribly specific." This week's @nytimesbooks By the Book features #NBAwards Finalist @rebeccamakkai. nytimes.com/2023/02/16/boo…

My review of @aejohnsonphd's latest book! A must read for a wide range of rhetorical scholars, including scholars of 19th/early 20th century American rhetoric, African American rhetoric, American Christian rhetoric. We see you, Andre! tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.108…

Let’s talk about racism! Most white people at prestigious magazines don’t ever want to talk about race or diversity at all. Why? It's primarily because they’ve been allowed to exist in a world where their mastheads resemble member registries at Southern country clubs circa 1950..
