Idc what you think about the story, the gameplay is fantastic. Reminds me of what people say about retro horror games—how clunky controls make things scarier. This feels like a modern take on that by forcing you adapt to its animation driven mechanics. Gets super tense at times.

i don't see either the chinese government, zuckerberg or musk being able to direct mass public opinion as good i'm just not sure what data suggests TikTok is causing more or different harm than the apps run by our local oligarchs

I constantly see zoomers say things like “I don’t care if China has my data, it’s not like Zuckerberg having it is any better” and it really has nothing to do with your “data.” The data isn’t the valuable thing! The algorithm capable of quickly influencing mass public opinion is!

what's coming will harm many, many people, but statements like this reduce the progress of the last half-century down to a bevy of laws. you cannot, and they will not, erase the normalization of inter-racial marriage, broad acceptance of the public existence of queer people...

We’re about to see 40 years of social progress that was fought, scratched, scraped, and crawled for rolled back over the next 4 years because a decent amount of the general public didn’t believe the progress actually happened to begin with.
