@2_pints@wevegotwheels Only fools think you can reduce traffic by adding more roads. Increased capacity leads to increased use. Build more cycling infrastructure to reduce traffic. It’s really that simple.
It's 'Close Pass Day', which is all about giving enough space when overtaking cyclists (roughly 1.5 metres). Around 100 signs are going up across the county about this and all drivers we stop today will be told why it's so important. crowd.in/vo535V#safeandsocialroads
@adamtranter@Chris_Boardman In Brighton we have a lot of double decker buses that contribute to 63% of all NOx emissions in some parts of the city, unfortunately electrifying them doesn't seem possible at the moment
we have some new buses that are euro 6 so should help a bit
Reading comments on @Chris_Boardman's comment piece, it's clear many people think air pollution will cease with the adoption of electric cars.
This narrative, unchecked, risks locking us into the same car dominance we've experienced for the last 70 years.

Explaining "Privilege" to Cyclists.
As cyclists, we all face a constant battle for acceptance on the road. We have to constantly justify our existence. We have to justify why we deserve to be on the road with other road users like motor vehicles.

@2_pints I've never seen so many family groups out being active. On my usual quiet running routes I regularly meet people. Also encountered lots of cyclists round Brendon hill yesterday, combined with a run/scoot from Northway when my freehub broke🙃
Riding today matches lots of reports on here
Quiet roads are transforming the cycling experience
Loads more apparently less regular riders including families out
Of the few drivers out too many still don't get safe passing distances or speeds despite no other motor traffic around
