“A lot of people want to argue that ‘Homosexuality is natural; therefore, homosexuality is OK.’ I agree that it’s OK, and I agree that it’s natural, but I don’t agree that it’s OK because it’s natural.” stevestewartwilliams.com/p/an-evolution…

Poškození památníku pochodu smrti v Pohořelicích je primitivní nenávistné vandalství. Vychází bohužel z atmosféry, kterou vyvolávají někteří politici s cílem rozdělovat společnost a šířit v ní hněv. Odsuzuji takové chování.

My hypothesis: US university education was a massively successful export industry (foreign students paying tuition + housing + living expenses is literally classified as exports) and Trump admin collapsed this demand.

New paper reviews why scientists are moving away from conceptualizing behaviors as "addictive", including sex and pornography viewing. I agree, this ship sailed a decade ago. These models are not useful for behaviors...and never have been.

The past century delivered extraordinary gains in income, health, and opportunity. The next one could do the same – even better. The McKinsey Global Institute's new book argues that a world of plenty is possible – even for 12 billion people – if we make the right choices. Available now ➡️ mck.co/acenturyofplen…

A lot of "China watchers" overstate how bad things are in China, while a lot of Western conservatives suffer from a "grass is greener" view of China that downplays how it's suffering from many of the same problems as the West, and several unique problems of its own.

Really excited that this is out in @PNASNews! We find that 2 LLMs (GPT-4.5 and LLama-3.1-405B) pass a 5 minute Turing test. As an update to our preprint we also find that GPT-5 and LLaMa pass a 15 minute test! 🧵
