Israel is at war on four fronts: with Hamas in Gaza; with Houthis in Yemen; with Hezbollah in Lebanon; and with Iran overseeing the operations. What does Netanyahu do? Attack the United States based on a lie that he made up! The Speaker and Leader should withdraw his invitation to address Congress until he recants and apologizes.

Take note: while the rest of the world is preoccupied with Trump’s felony convictions, @POTUS Biden has put a clear choice before Sinwar and Netanyahu: accept a ceasefire-hostages exchange and end the war now. axios.com/2024/06/01/bid…

Wednesday, May 22, 2024. I never thought I’d live to see this day when Israel’s government rejected a full-fledged offer of peace from Saudi Arabia, the leader of the Arab and Muslim worlds. Wake up Israel! Your government is leading you into ever greater isolation and ruin.

I welcome the ICC prosecutor’s request for arrest warrants for Hamas leaders, Sinwar, Deif and Haniyeh, and for Israel’s PM Netanyahu and Defense Minister Gallant. Hamas leaders should be held accountable for the war crimes and crimes against humanity they undoubtedly committed on October 7th (which includes the crimes of extermination, murder, torture, rape, and taking hostages). Netanyahu and Gallant should be held accountable for the war crime and crime against humanity of “starvation of civilians as a method of war” during Israel’s war in Gaza -- there is at the very least “reasonable grounds to believe” that they have committed such a crime (Gallant announced on Oct. 9, 2023, "I have ordered a complete siege on the Gaza Strip. There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel"; ten days later Netanyahu stated, "we will not allow humanitarian assistance, in the form of food and medicines, from our territory to the Gaza Strip"). This is not about drawing a moral equivalence between Hamas and Israel. It is about upholding international law and holding decision-makers accountable. For a detailed analysis of these charges, see: justsecurity.org/95864/internat…

You are right @elgindy. I wrote the tweet going on the prosecutor’s charges against Netanyahu, before I had seen the Hamas charges.

@Martin_Indyk How does it let Hamas off the hook when 3 of its leaders face similar warrants?

I stand corrected. Thank you @howserob. I wrote the tweet before seeing the Hamas charges.
Rob Howse@howserob

@Martin_Indyk "let's Hamas off the hook?" W respect, 3 of the 5 charges are of Hamas leaders. Also, this is an ongoing investigation, and according to the Clooney, report more charges and charges of additional suspects are to be expected soon.

It is painful to see an Israeli Prime Minister - any Israeli prime minister - dragged before the ICC in this way. It is unfair and unjust, especially since it lets Hamas off the hook. But if you pay attention to the charges you will see that this is not about “genocide” but rather about the claim that Israel systematically failed to take care of the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people. Netanyahu could have done a lot more in this regard - he still can. Even today Israel is blocking humanitarian aid flowing to Gaza. Why not let everything flow? It’s the right thing to do and it might just convince the judges to block the prosecutor’s harsh decree.

I have worked with Daniel Lubetzky since he founded the One Voice movement thirty years ago. I don’t know any other individual who has done more to promote Israeli-Palestinian reconciliation and moderation in Israeli politics. That he is now taking a stand against anti-Semitism on Columbia’s campus is entirely consistent with his efforts to build bridges between communities, something that should be applauded and supported. Go Daniel and your Kindness!
Daniel Lubetzky@DanielLubetzky

A few days ago, a news publication reported on a group of Jewish leaders that self-organized to fight antisemitism and expose the crimes that Hamas is committing not just against Israel but also against the Palestinian people and the world. That part is correct. Sadly in today’s era, inflammatory headlines and social media conspiracy theories get unleashed that have no support in facts. The following facts are accurate and supported by the record: Building Bridges to Overcome Extremism and Solve Problems Together is My Constant. I founded PeaceWorks Inc. 31 years ago to foster business cooperation among neighbors striving to co-exist in the Middle East. I co-founded the OneVoice Movement with my friend Mohammad Darawshe to help Palestinians and Israelis seize back the agenda for conflict resolution. Most recently, I co-founded the Builders movement to overcome “us vs. them” thinking. I am proud of standing against all forms of hate and discrimination. While most of my life that has meant my standing up for other vulnerable groups, Jewish students are now being harassed (called Nazis and encircled); prevented from going to classes and receiving their education; and told they cannot access public spaces because they are Jewish or Israeli. This is a deliberate strategy from extremist groups that borrow dehumanization tactics from the most shameful periods in history – from when Blacks were not allowed to drink from the same water fountain in our own country just a few decades ago to when Jews were blocked from going to school in Germany and Austria in the 1930s and eventually degraded enough to allow Hitler to send them to death camps. This form of extremism, along with burning American flags or denying Israel’s right to exist, doesn’t just harm Jews and Israelis. It also harms Muslims and Palestinians that quest for peace and get painted negatively by radicals who purport to represent them. Just as I would condemn hate & discrimination against anyone (Muslim, Christian or Jewish, Black, Brown or White) it is my — and everyone’s — responsibility to stand firmly against those who are bullying and systematically trying to stigmatize Jewish students. A reporter that had access to thousands of posts from our group could not produce a single one that would substantiate any extremist accusations. Not only that, but the reporter deliberately avoided posts spotlighting cooperation between Israelis and Palestinians, and efforts to build bridges with other communities to fight extremism and all forms of hate. NY Mayor Eric Adams spoke forcefully against antisemitism. Our community is grateful for his moral clarity and courage. We will show our appreciation and loyalty to him and all those that stand against all forms of hate. No amount of bullying or intimidation will make us cower. The opposite. Now more than ever, we will form alliances against all forms of hate, including hate against Jews.her communities to fight extremism and all forms of hate.

Clearly frustration with Netanyahu has reached boiling point within his own security cabinet as well as in Washington and Cairo. Something’s gotta give… (even though there’s radio silence from Eisenkot and Gantz).

💥#Boom: DefMin Yoav Gallant just publicly demanded Netanyahu "make a decision and declare that Israel will not retain civilian control of Gaza, that there will be no Israeli military rule, and that an alternative to Hamas' government in Gaza Strip will be promoted immediately."
